I am 58, who grew up listening to Zeppelin, Sabbath, Priest, then Maiden etc., Gods of Rock, and in the early 2000's came SOAD. What a great talented group, great songs, great musicianship, and I got to see them live once, and they were the best band I have seen live. They are Gods of Rock. Great review, thank you very much.

Im a massive SOAD fan, I don’t think they have a bad song, or a song I’d even skip. This song is one of my favourites and possibly underrated song, along with Tentative. Glad you enjoyed David

The fact he gave it a 9.1 makes me super satisfied, cos this was the song that stood out on the album when i bought the CD ! Yep I’m old enough for CD kids (36) yeah 9.1 is a fair score it’s a beast of a song and lyrically magical.

It was both Daron the guitarist and Serj harmonizing in Studio. And yes they sing it together live as well. What do you think about the ending scream though? (11:27) Serj held that long scream really well. 18:45 they do still play live actually, just not all the time. What they don't do is make new albums. Great reaction really enjoyed it, one of my favorite SOAD songs. The song is called Question because it questions the afterlife. The beat that John plays at 9:23 is one of my favorites that he has ever done, such a great drummer.

This song is amazing, and it's not the first time I've heard it, and I have had the CD since it came out, but I sort of neglected it. I just heard The Charismatic Voice channel react to it and am hooked again like I just heard it for the first time. System of a Down is one of the most successful rock bands of all time for good reason, so much differentiation, talent, they are not traditional, have good messages, and just full of surprises, never afraid to be goofy and weird and then harmonize right after.

Obviously, I wasn't in the studio but I feel like this might be both Serj doubling or tripling his vocals (are you and dreaming the night sections) and him with Daron harmonizing (chorus). I also feel that in the chorus it might be Serj harmonizing with himself plus Daron's vox on top. They did play it live and it was Serj/Daron vocals in the chorus but the harmonies weren't as layered as on the album.

I know a man who finds fault with every little thing. He somehow catches the slightest deviations from the rhythm. For example, sometimes he says that a guitarist or a drummer plays crookedly and this causes him strong indignation. How do you think, as a professional musician, how essential is it when a guitarist plays and does not hit the bass drum or a snare drum for a fleeting second (for example)? Even though the average person wouldn't notice it. What do you think?

  • @THEDavidHeretic

As a bassist I'm very sensitive to inaccurate counting, tempo, and subdividing. I'm sure the average person won't be bothered by these things, but it does bother the heck out of me when I hear it.

@@THEDavidHeretic Thank you for the answer. Yes, I also sometimes hear it, although I have no musical education. Like in this song, at 9:03 I hear inaccuracies. I can hear it clearly when slowing down the video. However, at 9:08, the accuracy of the game is simply amazing, or the sound engineer mixed it well. I don't know maybe I'm wrong
