Alright folks, I'm a Latin with an unusual opinion: the liturgy of an Eastern Catholic Church should be identical to it's Eastern or Oriental Orthodox counterpart. No Latinizations, Novus or otherwise. And as far as I'm concerned, the Latin Church should be using other Latin rites such as Ambrosian and Sarum Use, not just the Roman Rite. Personally I want to see the preservation and use if all rites in their purest forms. Byzantine, Syriac, Roman...all of them! Oh, and since learning of the horror Russian Old Believers suffered, I now use their finger arrangement when I cross myself. I still cross myself left to right since I'm Latin, but we Latin have been doing it backwards for centuries. What lead me to so strongly respect Eastern Catholicism? An SSPX priest named Dan Chavaria did. I went to confession at the SSPX chapel I attend and he advised me to use a prayer in time of need: Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. I kid you not, an SSPX priest told me to use the the Jesus prayer. It made me realize what a precious and overlooked gift the Eastern rites truly are.

Ambrosian and Sarum aren’t different “rites”, they’re literally just local variations of the Roman Rite. There’s also a Maronite chorbishop who is good friends with the FSSPX.

I don't think that's really an unusual opinion for Traditional Catholics to hold. There are a lot of us who share your opinion, including me, so you're not alone in your views.

I applaud your attitude and opinion. I'm a person who wants the restoration of the Syro-Malabar rite to as pure a form as is possible while removing as much Latinization, Indianisation and Modernization in it as much as possible. As someone who supports the Tridentine over the Novus Ordus for Latin Rite Catholics and also a sympathizer of the Russian Old Believers I am delighted to read your comment. I also support the restoration of all the old rites of the Latin Catholic Church. I am also very surprised to hear that a pro-Eastern Christianity opinion came from an SSPX priest.

I wonder if they still do it ad orientem, it like their other Syriac counterparts have given in to the ad populum latinized trend.

In India the Syro Malankara Catholic Church uses the same liturgy as the Syriac Catholic Church of Antioch. There are small differences though as it seems like the Syriac Catholics have changed the order of some prayers. The Syro Malankara rite follows the order almost as much as the Syriac Orthodox Church in India because it was formed only some 100 years ago by faithful that left Orthodoxy to become Catholic.

The armenian rite is an independent rite derived from the syriac rite which is an antiochian rite, but the language of the mass in the video is mostly arabic with little syriac because most syriac people no longer understand syriac.
