Michael, this demo was done on my iPad Mini 2. I had also tried it on my old iPad Mini 1, but it just didn't have enough CPU power and the ForeFlight app display stuttered. -Gene

Is the F22 Icon YOU? Can you change that? I live in Raptor land and that would confuse me.

How did you change your aircraft icon?

Foreflight states users cannot change the altitude (baro pressure) on the iPad. Is that annoying in flight?

which model of iPad are you using?

+jajawockeez I had originally tried creating this demo using my original iPad Mini version 1. But I found that the Synthetic Vision functionality taxed the version 1 mini just a little too much. It works, but sometimes you can see that the processor is a bit overloaded and the display is not smooth. So i bought a mini version 2 and that's what I made the video with. No need to get a version 3.

Foreflight seems to be about the best aviation app I have seen. As a new pilot (student) is checking weather, tfr, and notams approved though foreflight? As in, its is a legal defense if I get in trouble to say that is where I checked my information?

+Dave Holland IF YOU PRESS THE 'BRIEF' button on the "File & Brief" tab, that makes it a legal weather briefing. Foreflight is pulling the briefing data using your personal information that you entered into the app when you set it up. In effect, it's just like you went to DUATS to get your briefing at that point. NOTE THOUGH, simply looking at Foreflight DOES NOT make it a legal briefing. Again, you MUST send your flight plan to the File & Brief tab and then press the Brief button (and hopefully read the briefing too) to make it legal.

+The HD Pilot i talked to my examiner and he said I am good to go just taking a look for local area flights. I understand the brief and file for cross country. I am still in the "I like flying" phase enough to enjoy a local airport flight.

Been there a few times. Hard to beat! Good video.

Why did you fast forward during approach and landing..kinda makes the whole thing kind of pointless...

Speeding it up, especially in the pattern and landing/takeoff, takes away from the point of watching the video. Makes it difficult to get a sense of what I would see at my scan rate. Remember, we can always fast forward the video ourselves.
