Symptoms of baby turning head down - What does it feel like when baby turns head down?

Do you want to find out if your baby has turned? In this video, Nathalie Kaufmann, Pregnancy and Birth Consultant, and Mathias Ritter, Science Geek, explain how you can tell if your baby turns head down. First, they explain the symptoms of baby turning head down that you would feel the very moment when your baby turns head down in the womb. Afterwards, they also discuss the signs of baby turning head down that you would feel AFTER your baby turns head down. Finally, they also show you how to palpate your belly if you want to find out yourself if your baby turns head down in the womb. In other words: they explain where you can expect to find the back, bump and head of your baby given that your baby turns head down and given that your baby is not in a breech position, particularly, in a transverse breech position.

    Thanks so much for watching this video! 😊 Please keep in mind: the most reliable way to tell if your baby is head down is to have a midwife check the position of your baby! However, we hope that our video will help you at least get an idea about how it feels like when your baby turns head down, so that you can at least make a guess if your baby has turned or not! 💕

    Thanks! I’m 31 weeks today(!!!) with my 8th baby. I’ve always wondered how on earth my midwife can just wiggle her hand around on my belly and confidently say “Yep, head’s right there!” Now I know! 😁❤️

    I’m a midwife in Canada. My baby turned after using your exercises followed by moxa at 33 weeks. We watched the baby turn during moxa. It was amazing and wasn’t painful. Just felt like big movements and then the shape of my belly completely changed. It became more longitudinal and a lot lower. So relieved.

    My baby was not head down at my 33 week ultrasound but was at the 37 week one to check his or her position! I had done your Breech exercises using your video and PDF frequently and remember doing it one day very thoroughly in week 36 while the baby was very active and feeling the baby turn!! I believe the head also engaged then, though it feels disengaged the last two days (I’m 38.5 now). Hoping little one stays head down at least and I can encourage that head engagement each day and in early labour!

    @@CareAboutLittleOnes Hello there👋 i wanted to know if you guys had patients who were 33 and 34 weeks who had 1-3 contractions a day and went up to 36-40 weeks of pregnancy?

  • @CareAboutLittleOnes

    @CareAboutLittleOnes

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@mellee4732 Hi there Mel 😊, yes, we did! 😊 Please note that sometimes, women experience contractions sometime between week 33 and week 36 which may feel like real contractions. They can be pretty intense and even come in regular intervals. However, they are not real contractions, they are "drop contractions" (in fact, there is not really a word for that in the English literature - we came up with it). The purpose of those contractions is to "press down" that baby into the pelvis. After this period of contractions (which often lasts some 3 days), the contractions stop and the belly has dropped. So, if you experience that your belly is dropping, then it could be related to those "drop contractions". That said, if you are concerned that you are in preterm labor, please don't hesitate to talk with your midwife as soon as possible! It's always better to make the call! We hope this helps! 😊

    Hi there Andrea 😊, thanks SO MUCH for your lovely feedback!! 😊 We absolutely understand how stressful a pregnancy can be, particularly for first-time moms and in particular, when your baby is breech! But it is true: we really manage to turn lots of babies even as late as week 40, particularly with the following approach: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqaZysSuoNrOqrw.html. It is important important not to give up though! In one case, the baby turned in the morning of the day of the scheduled C-section and the mother ended up having a normal vaginal birth... 😊 We really hope that our approach will help you too!! By the way: there are several things a woman can try to turn a baby: As long as a woman is less than 34 weeks pregnant, we have found that an exercise called "pelvic rocking" on a birthing ball is the most effective tool to turn a breech baby. We explain how it works in this video (actually, everything that we explain in this video could help): kzread.info/dash/bejne/imensbGbob2uorw.html And then once a woman is in week 34, we have found that "moxibustion" in combination with breech baby turning exercises is more effective to turn a baby. I'm on my 34 weeks of pregnancy and afraid of having a breech baby after I was informed during my prenatal that my baby's hb was on the upper left side of my belly button and probably was breech. I do some yoga exercise to prevent breech position before I will have my 2nd ultrasound. This video really helps me to know the symptoms of cephalic position and to prevent having a breech baby.💕

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi there Janai 😊, thanks so much for your feedback! We are really happy that you like our videos! 😊 Regarding your question: it is quite common to find a placenta low-lying in the uterus (it will probably also be the case at the 20 weeks scan). However, this is not a reason for concern at this stage. As you progress through your pregnancy, your uterus is going to grow upwards. What this means is that your placenta is likely to move up because it is attached to the uterus. Therefore, it is not uncommon for women to have a low-lying placenta in early weeks. But at term , it is only just an issue in about 1% of all women. In other words, at this stage where you are right now, you don't have any reason to worry 😊 All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

    Hi there Filipina 😊, first of all, thanks so much for watching our videos!! It makes us very proud! 😊 Regarding your question: Any form of exercise is a great way to turn a breech baby (or at least to support the process). That is why we recommend women exercising throughout their pregnancy. Yoga can help too, but there are also other exercises that you can try. We explain them in detail in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2GfypinqKrRc84.html So yes, if you start exercising now, it can absolutely support the process. Just make sure to ask your doctor if you are allowed to exercise at all (because not every pregnant woman is allowed to)... We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Hi there 😊, in short, it means: everything is alright, but at the moment, your baby is breech "single viable intrauterine foetus in breech presentation" MEANS: there is a single living baby in your uterus in breech presentation (i.e. not in a head down position) "longitudinal lie" MEANS: the baby's spine is in parallel to the mother's spine (i.e. not transverse) "showing normal cardiac and activities" MEANS normal heart rate and normally active The sentence in brackets basically means the same 😊 We hope this helps! All the best for you and your baby! ❤️

    @@carolmusya4113 Hi there, as for your first question, it is very difficult for us to answer. We can only guess that one part is the body, the other part the head. However, please keep in mind that even experienced professionals find it difficult to determine the baby's position, even when palpating your belly... As for yours second question: unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do to reduce the pain. Baby's like to move around in there and stretch their legs. We know that it can be painful. But until they get out, unfortunately, nothing is gonna help. But as always, if you believe that something is not right, please talk with your doctor as well! ;-)

    This definitely helped!im 30 weeks now and don’t know if she has turned yet…I saw a different OB yesterday and she couldn’t tell yet and put the fear of “breech” in me :( I do feel her kicking more aggressively over my belly button so I hope that’s a good sign!

    Hi there 😊, it's great to hear that you found this video helpful!! It's always difficult to determine a baby's position, even for a professional. Only an ultrasound exam can tell you for sure... But if the kicks are over your belly button, chances are that your baby is in a head down position.... 😊 In general though, we would not worry at this point! You are only 30 weeks pregnant. So, plenty of time for your baby to move into a good position for labor... We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Greetings Ma"am and sir I appreciate your work I will love to ask if this exercise could be performed by a woman carrying twins or triplets That is, 2 babies are in good position but 1 is in transverse position 😢

    Hi there 😊, thanks so much for your lovely comment! We are really very happy to hear that you like our content and find it helpful! 😊😘 Regarding your question: NORMALLY, what we want to achieve when it comes to twins and triplets, is that baby A (which is the one closest to the cervix) is head down. If the other ones are not yet in a good position for labor, it is not necessarily a problem. That's because oftentimes, what happens is that the other baby/babies will turn AFTER baby A was born... Therefore, if 2 babies are in a good position and one is transverse, it is not necessarily a problem because again, we would expect the third baby to turn once the other two (or the first one) have/has been born. The most important thing is that baby A is head down! But please verify this with your obstetrician and midwife too because every pregnancy is different. We can only tell you what is NORMALLY to be expected. But whether or not this applies to you also depends on your overall pregnancy case (like the position of your placenta etc.)... Regarding the exercises: When you say exercise, do you refer to this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2GfypinqKrRc84.html ? If so, we normally don't do those in case of multiples. Instead, we tell the mother to go into left side-lying position (like this one: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fmR6xMGBlKXan8o.html) for about 30 minutes twice a day. And while she does that, we apply moxibustion. This approach has helped in some cases, but unfortunately not in every case. However, please keep in mind that all we (normally) try to achieve is getting baby A in a good position... We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your babies!! ❤️

    what is posterior placenta ? does it make labor hard and long

  • @CareAboutLittleOnes

    @CareAboutLittleOnes

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi there Sara 😊 , the term "posterior" simply refers to the location of the placenta in your uterus. Posterior means that the placenta is attached to the back wall of the uterus (i.e. the wall close to your back). Scientific studies have not shown that there are any major complications such as a particularly long or hard labor in case of a posterior placenta, except maybe slightly higher chances of a preterm birth because the blood flow in a posterior placenta is often less efficient. But that's really all they could find (at least to our knowledge). We hope this helps! 😊 All the best for you and your baby! ❤️
