Oh Brooke, you are so brave to handle the actual creatures! I have a really bad cockroach phobia and a few years ago I tried to create a picture showing cockroaches crawling around up my long hair and on my clothes, as an attempt to combat the fear of the creatures, but I had to use stock images! Whenever I see one, even if they are dead, I feel as though someone has punched me in the stomach so there is no way I could pick one up, even with tweezers! Eeeuuughh! hahaha, love this work of yours as ever, true inspiration you are.

I appreciate your exploration and depth with night terrors. I’ve recently been bitten by bugs while sleeping causing pain and swelling on my neck and hand.

You are probably my favourite conceptual photographer! The way you find new ideas and put them into images is really special. I'd be great to meet you and just talk about photography and art. As for symbolism - im trying to incorporate many symbols in my projects, sometimes to the point where i don't know if person watching would see all of them. But the idea of telling a whole story in one image fascinate me. Cheers!

I enjoyed this very much. One thought came to mind and it was this, how much explaining of the symbology is needed to be explained or is that something that is in an “about this series” that is seen with the pieces or is everything just left to the viewer? If they don’t know what you researched, how will they understand what you are trying to say or is that not an important part?

I find this piece, fantastically appalling. I have a deep fear and hatred of cockroaches so this is a difficult work to contemplate. It is this difficulty which gives the work special value for me. I wonder what a work from the beetle's point of view would look like as it suffered an infestation of humans.
