@@crevanille1966 No, any student that isn't named Claude, Dedue, Dimitri, Hubert, or Edelgard (and Hilda, Catherine, Cyril, and eventually Seteth and Flayn in CF though you can have them for a bit) can join. You just have to recruit Sylvain the normal way like you do with all other students.

I played as Male Byleth in all my routes and as I did Blue Lions first so I didn't notice but when I did my Silver Snow route Sylvain did seem a bit hard to convince but I got him eventually

I just find it so funny how he flirts with female Byleth in front of everyone all cozy, and just stays quiet when it's male 😂

Well his Byleth supports shows that in fact he hates women, and that's why he treats them like shit. He is not gay thought, he just hates the people that only see him for his crest. But his ending with Felix where they die the same day because they can't live without the other is still the most likely to happen (and I can't help but see that as romantic, so I can't see Sylvain as anything but bi)

@@beatofromuminekorealnotcli4574 Nope, actually. Syl has this self esteem issue, and has hints that he may even be a sexual or emotional abuse victim. He's the only son of the Margrave with a Crest, so Miklan abused him a shitton, pushed him into a well, stranded him in the mountains, etc. Sylvain's so far gone he doesn't even blame Miklan. He's been raised with this extreme weight on his shoulders, where he's not allowed to choose his own future because he has to marry to pass down his Crest. Past experiences seem to have shaped his thoughts towards women into thinking they only want him for his crest, and he literally calls himself a studhorse in one of Byleth's supports. You can even kind of tell when he's fake flirting in the animations, as he seems to make less eye contact than even _Felix_ most of the time. He does not seem to understand how healthy relationships, or even relationships in _general_ work.

Sylvain maybe a skirt chaser, but damn does he have one of the better backstories in the game, he hates being a crest bearer due to him questioning his own worth as a human, the hatred his older brother had for him for being the one having a crest and not him, not really liking any of the women he flirts with because he believes they aren't interested in him, just his crest and lineage, he's also one of the smartest students in the Officer's Academy (he can solve complex questions quickly), the fact that he actually cares about his friends even though they can be critical towards him, even harsh on him (yeah I'm looking at you Felix) and than there comes his best support with Mercedes, who I always ship him with, all the reasons why he's one of my favorite characters in the entire FE series

All reasons why I love him. Honestly think he deserved to have a support with professor Hanneman. Sylvain's one of the characters that needed to see his perspective on crests. And he's smart enough that he totally could have gotten an ending where he lets go of his hatred of crests in pursuit of helping others that are burdened by their crests or lack thereof. Man Sylvain deserves more fanfics.

Dude, you are spitting straight facts. I love Sylvain's character. He's super complex, but everyone always dumbs it down to he's just a flirt that doesn't care about anything, but the problem is he actually cares too much, which is why he's so angry and upset. He's also one of the most intelligent and considerate characters in the game, and he even helps out female characters without expecting anything in return and maintains a normal friendship with a few of them. I don't get how people can go through the game seeing his backstory, his supports, and his endings and still come to the conclusion that's he's just a guy obsessed with boobs or something.

Unironically one of my biggest gripes with Sylvain was the Leonie support. She doesn't dress any more masculine from the other female characters, in fact she is showing more leg, and her chest size is in the upper half of the cast according to the Game data, yet Sylvain doesn't notice because... As far as gameplay advantages are concerned, female Byleth and male Shez are the canon ones.

I like Sylvain very much but I prefer playing as male Byleth :( Btw it's awesome how the dialogues in this game change depending on some of your choices. Shows us the devs put a lot of effort on this game

@@l.n.3372 Not to mention that their are some supports that will mention other characters and their supports as well such as Constance mentioning Merci to Jeritza if you recruited her but if you didn't she wouldn't and if you've done Sylvan and Marriane's support (at least their c support i think) Marriane and Ashe's support will mention him but if you don't have him that won't come up. And there's others as well that I like that come up.

If Hubert has an A support already (such as with Ferdinand), then Edelgard will act really jealous when Hubert tells her that he is in love with someone. Almost as if Edelgard doesn't want Hubert to tell her that he loves someone else. But if Hubert doesn't have an A support by then, Edelgard will act like a curious person who just really wants to know whom Hubert loves.

If you play as male Byleth and teach the Blue Lions, the first bit of dialogue where he talks about the ladies of Garreg Mach is replaced with Sylvain saying if you want to go into town with him to pick up women.

It's so great that their conversation will change depends your character gender and the route you choose.

Felix: "CONTROL YOURSELF" *immediately right after* Felix: "Come to tue training grounds"

the true crime is Claude being able to s-support only with F-Byleth, while he is definetly trying to charm you regardless of your gender (dragging you to dance during the ball for example)

For a male Byleth version: Byleth isn't initially that safe home Dorothea was looking for, but imagine if Leonie was automatically recruitable because she could get closer to Jeralt 2.0.

"That's enough, Sylvain." Couldn't have said it better myself, Dedue.

I'm a straight girl and decided to play as mbyleth (because he's also really cute tbh) and I'm kinda ashamed to admit I, like many girls in-game, I ALSO fell for Sylvain and then I got so frustrated that it got so hard to recruit him and then I can't even marry him :'( It's a great thing this game offers so much replay value because next time I'm gonna marry his flirty ass

Yeah, he's definitely attracted to female Byleth and her beauty, especially since they're so close in age. Sylvain was the first student I recruited to the Black Eagles as female Byleth. The one time her good looks make it easy to recruit a student. Although she welcomes Sylvain to her class, it seems she initially still has little patience for his shameless flirting.

Literally the easiest character to recruit in the game. You get him for free as female byleth and you get him really easily by going into a magic build as male byleth.

This is the reason why I married him in my BL run.

I hate to admit it, but Sylvain's charm got me good. I adore him.

@@Wizzkidwas FByleth can't romance Claude ethier. They don't marry and it's not even implied that they have a relationship in their paired ending. honestly feels like an oversight that MByleth can't get his paired ending.

The “scarecrow” is actually just a feminine man and implied to have been Yuri in the three hopes game

I played only as male Byleth, but I was imaginating something like this

I recruited Sylvain into GD before I even knew what recruiting was. God I love him so much

One of the strongest reasons to go Female Byleth, when not in the Blue Lions. Just a free student- that if you recruit, you get early access to a relic.

Thank you so much Shinoa! It was really interesting to see the different dialogues!

God, this is why Three Houses is such a good game. In most JRPG games where they let you choose a gender, none of the dialogue or scenes change, like in one of the Digimon Cyber Sleuth games, where your character gets slapped for seeing the girls bathe, whether you're male OR female. They usually just try to keep it gender neutral. But I really appreciated how this game really makes you FEEL like a girl, which is such a nice feeling in such a male MC dominated landscape.

Sylvain feels like the kind of guy to tell you "What else is there". If you know, you know.

The fact that as Female Byleth, you can recruit Sylvain without any restrictions, for free, is so funny to me lmao.

Someone, Byleth probably - "Is beauty all that matters" Sylvain - "What else is there?"

Sylvain is one of my top 5 characters in this game. Just because he's so stupid at times.

Felix has his priorities straight with training grounds XD

OKAY BUT ACTUALLY Sylvain gave me unrealistic exceptions about recruiting. Me playing as female Byleth went to him first cause 🔥🔥🔥 but then no one else would join and I thought I was broken

Sylvain is more honest with himself with Mbyleth

I used to get soooo annoyed with Sylvain at first but he grew on me after i saw his supports with Mercedes. I thought they were cute

I like attention to detail of dialogue from him because he is what Dimitri calls a skirt pusher so he immediately interested in the female protagonist and compliments her and asked her out but the male he gives 0 attention span 🤣
