Which trams do you prefer for the L1: CAF Urbos 3? Or Alstom Citadis X05 (305)?

Thanks very much for a great visit back on the L1. I am glad they came to their senses to use the Randwick/Kingsford equipment as a fill in. These look kind of grander than the other stuff? You did well behind the advertising you have encouraged me to have another go at videoing. I need to do as you did and avoid most of the faces up close. Always prefer fine days if we can get them. Well done!

Ahh that rain you get down there in Sydney is rare up here in Bris-vegas, send it north please Phill. Great to see the L1 open again, Still for me at least, one of the more interesting light rail Routes because of the lines historic use.

Hey phil how everything going. How much excited you had when the Inner west Light rail finally up and running.

I travelled on the line that same day when I went to see Hamilton. I didn’t realise it had only just reopened.

I prefer these trams to the CAF. I take this line to work daily. The ride is way more smoother than the CAF and much more standing room. I don't know if it was the tram or the driver but the CAF was very uncomfortable if you are standing.

Despite having it's own right-of-way most of the way, the trams still dawdle along much of the time.

I think it could easily go from Dulwich Hill to Convention Station in 20 min instead of 30 min , but I guess either for passenger comfort or they are holding something back for future use. 25 min to Central would be a dream , but I suppose time and efficiency is not high on their list.

thanks for the video! I saw a few of them roll past today while I was in the city but didn’t get a chance to ride any. Interesting that the displays don’t have the L1 stops programmed in…maybe they think of this as very temporary and not worth the effort, even if the original trams might be out of commission for 18 months.

I found that very interesting, i thought that the stopping pattern would have been quite easy to program. It’s good that there are announcements at each stop though.

Accordign to some staff most customers have said they prefer the Citadis trams over the Urbos 3s. Might just be because of novelty or change, you never know.

@@sydneytrainsvlogs The day beforehand, I had a similar incident at Killara. And I had a lady who instead of trying to help went and filmed me basically dead on the platform, and will probably put it on Social Media soon! At least you don’t do that Phil. But yeah, I’ve been though better times to be honest. Thanks for asking Phil, most of the time these kinds of comments backfire severely with other, less kind people.

On the west midlands metro in Birmingham, England. Which has a similar fleet of Urbos 3 trams, got taken out of service due to cracks. Wonder what's causing them

@@sydneytrainsvlogs yeah the issue was fixed. The lines now back in service. Funny how these and the west midland trams were taken out of service at similar times.

I'd like to know how they transfered the trams from the L2/L3 lines to L1?

The lines are joined at the George Street Junction to allow the Citadis fleet to access the Lilyfield maintenance centre

In 34:33 L2 and L3 are closed

@@sydneytrainsvlogs And something else that is interesting is that how fast these trams go, I’ve never been on L1 before, and I also heard this (citadis on l1) is slower than it usually is (on urbos) so 17:34 really surprised me there. Perhaps it’s because of no traffic and it’s ballast. Also do you know why Newcastle LR isn’t called L4? I would’ve thought that all light rails in NSW will be numbered.

@@givendiau Newcastle Light Rail is a separate line, run by Keolis Downer, while the Sydney Light Rail is run by Transdev

Out of service as they found cracks on the body & frame during routine maintenance check. Similar cracks have appeared on other Urbos trams worldwide as well.

I thought they would use the woman from the L2 and L3 but they used the man do you know why?

The woman from the L2/3 didn't record lines for the L1, so they used the already existing L1 line voicelines

So these are going all the way to Dulwich Hill? They said they were only going to Lillyfield. Glebe would have to be the worst transport stop in Australia., why they built the station there does not make much sense. Whole Tram seems totally deserted on this trip.
