I can't believe that there are different takes of obscure of a relatively obscure artist. There are even different takes of previous versions (Jugglers and Clowns was an earlier version of Octopus, and there are even different takes on that song too!)!

It isn't Roger. David Gilmour told in an interview that roger didn't want to take part on syd's songs.

He does say mad cat, not madcap like it says in the lyrics and what waters n Gilmore named the album after. Even though they knew what the lyrics were.

Love this tune.

this is actually at the time titled "Clowns and Jugglers" track 18 Take 1, recorded 20 July 1968 you can find it on the Opel lp take #2 is track #2 recorded same day. The Madcap Laughs lp has take 11, recorded 12 June 1969 and that one is titled "Octopus"

@MissJensk1 I`m sure it`s Waters saying this :))))))) Glimour was a producer of his second album .another one after "Madcap Laughs"..Roger claimed that he had enough and couldn`t go through all this stuff again ..but he was very helpfull as a producer on Madcap...

A sad story. Syd Barett was a talented, gifted young man. He founded Pink Floyd at the age of 19. He was kicked out at the age of 22!! When he was recording his two solo albums, Syd was on the verge of schizophrenia!!! Drug addiction is an illness... Syd had the wrong friends... Unfortunately, he continued to take drugs... At 24, Syd was a sick person... Psychiatry wasn't ready back then... Syd didn't want to go to the psychiatrist and didn't get out of the car 🚙... Nick Mason once said: We ignored the problem!!! One of the Barrett family was a doctor!!! He said: Everything is fine. Nothing is fine... Very sad... I'm interested in how Syd lived with his illness ??? Unfortunately, there are no more books in German...
