I am first and foremost a Shawol. I love and respect a lot of artists and their talent is crazy but, for me, no one is a complete package like SHINee. If you are so inclined, check out their live stages, it is truly next level! Lots of solo work from each member too!

Yep.. all five of SHINee have very distinct and beautiful vocal colors.. not emphasized on here too much but you will probably see it once you start watching their Live Performances, esp. their Ballads. 👌👌

The reason why the audience screams so loud and Onew cries during this performance of "Rainy Blue" is because this was Onew's first solo performance since having vocal surgery. It was a really scary surgery because there was no guarantee that he would ever be able to sing again, let along at the same quality as he did before the surgery. Onew spent about 3 months after his surgery not being able to speak at all in order to give his vocal cords time to heal and then he had to learn to sing all over again. This performance was proof to himself and the fans that he could still do it and that nothing had changed. ("Rainy Blue" is a cover of a Japanese song, which Onew has kind of made famous internationally. Onew is singing in Japanese.) That specific performance of Onew singing "Nessun Dorma" was performed in 2016 as a solo stage during one of SHINee's Japanese concerts, but it is not the first time Onew has performed this song, he has been performing it since SHINee's early days. Whether it's a performance from 2011 or this one from 2016, there isn't much difference -- his voice is a little more mature in 2016, but it was still impressive from the beginning. It's a very famous Italian opera song that all the great opera singers have probably sung. Onew is not trained in opera, but he had been training as a singer for more than 10 years when this performance took place, and he has an amazing range and understanding of his voice. He is also a musical stage actor, so he understands how to project his voice to the back of the theater and he knows how to tell a story through the performance of the song. One of the reasons why Key chose to come up with funny answers for that questionnaire is the fact that this Weekly Idol episode was part of their 10th anniversary promotions and so they have been on the show many times and had to fill out that same questionnaire almost every time, and they have answered those same questions dozens of more times for other variety shows. So, after that many years, it has become boring just to give a straight answer. What's particularity notable about the fact that Key said he is from New York, is the fact that he is fluent in English -- almost to the point you would think he is a native speaker. So, if you didn't know him, you might think he really was from New York. (He studied in Australia and the U.S. for a couple years when he was in middle school, and his grandma had an English tutor. He is fully immersed in Western culture.) The amazing thing about Key's high note in "Like a Fire" is that if you listen to the original version on their album, he doesn't have a high note in that song. But during that performance, which is from their SHINee World Concert III (SWC3) in Seoul, he, out of nowhere, decided he wanted to add a high note. It's almost as if he decided he wanted to try and outdo Jonghyun who is the group's high note master and the one who has the high note right before Key in the song. :D That's Key's classic diva attitude. One slight error in this guide: Minho is actually the MAIN rapper of the group and Key is a sub-rapper. (To say Minho is the second rapper makes it sound like he isn't the one that raps the majority of the time in SHINee's songs.) Minho is credited with writing almost all of his rap sections in SHINee songs, which is proof that he is the main rapper. Minho will have songwriting credits on dozens of SHINee's songs because he wrote the rap section. Also, Minho more than sings SOMEtimes, he sings just about as much as he raps in SHINee songs. He has the deepest voice out of all the members -- which is why he was made the main rapper -- so SHINee's songs don't often highlight his singing in the same way as the other members, but he is part of all of SHINee's harmonies. Also, by virtue of the fact that he is part of SM, means he also has an amazing voice. When you really get to know SHINee, you will see Minho has just as much vocal range as the rest of the members, and that is why SHINee's five-part harmonies are so outstanding. Minho is also known as a top athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out just because he likes to work out, but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, swimming and diving, etc., as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. There is a reason why Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and his need to always win. His dad was a minor league soccer player, and is now a coach and manager for a living. That is also Minho's classic iconic laugh. He laughs with his whole being and he lights up the room while doing it. In that same clip, Jonghyun fell down because, if you see that full clip, you will see that Minho was spraying water with a spray bottle and the floor was all wet. Before Jonghyun walked in the room the other members were playing around sort of making fun of a commercial they did for a Japanese ramen noodle company where they were each given a different dance move that they used to crush the noodles. Jonghyun's dance style was Krump, so he was over exaggerating his movements poking fun of that commercial and because the floor was slippery he fell down, which made Minho laugh even harder. :D Here is that full clip of Minho laughing kzread.info/dash/bejne/hZdm1rJqiay8hMY.html and here is a clip of the original Ramen commercial that SHINee is in kzread.info/dash/bejne/YpV8tLdxppqeYpc.html Jonghyun was the main vocalist of SHINee, but one thing you need to know about SHINee, is that they are all really main vocalists, so they can all fill in for each other, and they have. However, Taemin and Onew are the ones that have most often been tapped to fill Jonghyun's parts in most of their old songs, and even the parts that I think would have been his parts in their new songs. Taemin learned how to be a singer from Jonghyun, so his voice and vocal range is most like Jonghyun's, that is why he is the one to fill in for him most often. Jonghyun wrote IU's "Gloomy Clock." He also wrote EXO's "Playboy" and Taemin's "Pretty Boy" and "Already." Jonghyun wrote "Pretty Boy" specifically for Taemin and it ft. Kai from EXO (pronounced Exo like exoskeleton not E.X.O.) -- Taemin's best friend -- as the rapper. Plus he wrote dozens of songs that became SHINee's songs, as well as all of his own solo songs. SHINee doesn't follow trends, they create trends. For example, "Everybody" was the song to introduce dubstep to the Kpop industry. SHINee was one of the very first groups to use it. You think you know, but you have no idea how much they have really created that had never been done before in the world of Kpop. With their experimental concept they are expected to be the first to do almost everything, and they continue to change the industry with every new release of theirs even still today. The industry literally looks to SHINee to show them what the next song style and dance trend will be. If you notice, that last clip of SHINee playing charades, and Taemin trying to guess "suitcase," was at a fan meeting in Japan. So, they were all speaking Japanese. As you can see, SHINee are all fluent in Japanese. They are just as popular as Japanese artists as they are Kpop artists. Most Japanese people don't even consider them foreign artists. SHINee debuted as Japanese artists in 2011 and they spend about 50% of their career in Japan doing events and concerts, etc. For every Korean album SHINee also has a Japanese album, but their songs aren't just remakes of their Korean songs, the majority of their Japanese songs are exclusively in Japanese. And that also includes Taemin's solo career -- for every Korean solo album, they usually follow it up with a Japanese album, as well. So their discography is extensive. And yes, Obama actually talked about following SHINee at a press conference while he was president of the United States. That clip is 100% real. This Guide video was made in 2018, so to update the information, yes the other members of SHINee -- Onew, Key and Minho -- now also have solo careers. Onew and Key had their solo debut right before they went off to the military in 2018 and they both have solo albums. Minho also released his first solo single "I'm Home" that same year, right before he enlisted in the military as well. For an updated guide to SHINee you should check out their individuale guide videos next. The person who created the group guide has also recently released (released in the last year) individual member guides Taemin: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mnxp1JpxoMmuabg.html, Key: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c3iJ1Nlyc8jPdc4.html, Onew: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fX9s1K6khpjIm5s.html, Minho: kzread.info/dash/bejne/faNt15iCmqngc5M.html, and Jonghyun: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aXml2deQpb2-k6w.html.

You really have so much amazing music to catch up on. So far, SHINee has 13 full-length albums (7 Korean albums and 6 Japanese albums), which means there are at least 9 songs per album, and each more iconic than the last; a repackaged album for almost every album, with a couple of new songs on each album; a multitude of mini albums, with at least 5 songs each; numerous OSTS (original Soundtracks songs for TV shows and movies); they each have solo songs and albums -- Taemin has 4 albums, 6 EPs and several singles; Jonghyun has 4 albums, 1 EP and several singles; Onew has 1 album, 1 EP and several singles; Key has 3 albums and several singles; and Minho has one single ("I'm Home") -- and there are hundreds of live performances that will absolutely leave you speechless. Just to put it into perspective, they have already held more than 100 concerts and no two concert performances are ever the same. And it only gets more and more impressive as you follow them through their career. They have accomplished a lot in the past 13+ years and they are one of the groups that made Kpop what it is today. However, if you really are serious about checking out all of SHINee's MVs, it is possible. I just got done watching a reactor a month ago that spent 30 days (For SHINee-tember) reacting to all of SHINee's MVs in order of their release dates, including all the members solo MVs and a majority of their Japanese MVs, and even Taemin's group SuperM. He reacted to 4 or 5 MVs a day for a month and made it through all of them by the end of September. (Not saying that's what you have to do, just showing that it it's doable.) But you will have to act fast if you want to really catch up ;), because as soon as Taemin is released from the military I'm almost positive that SHINee will ramp up all their activities even more. SHINee are known for being a group that very rarely takes a hiatus, so they come out with several albums and solo projects, as well as hold extended world concert tours every year. For example, Taemin has literally released music as a member of SHINee, as a solo artist, as a member of a project group or as a part of SuperM every year since his debut. And very rarely is it just one project a year either; he usually has multiple things going at the same time. (He doesn't sit still well. LOL) When SHINee debuted in 2008, Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14. Taemin turned 28 in July, Key turned 30 in September, Minho will be 3O in December and Onew will be 32 in December. SHINee are part of the second generation in Kpop, and yet, they are the same age, or even sometimes younger, than members of groups and artists who debuted after them who are part of the third generation. That is one of the many reasons why they are so highly respected and why they are every idol's idols.

This Guide is really outdated sadly. And some of the Information is lacking as well. Actually all 5 of them are vocalists they said they Actually stopped having Positions quite a long time ago because they are all able to fill in each Position as needed. Also all of them have solo careers and Albums exept Minho who does have a single and an acting career. This guide also failed to mention SHINees impact in the industry such as the introduction of hard choreography, new music, fashion, live vocals and versatility. They actually started dance practices ^^.

The ONLY thing SHINee is not good at is lip syncing, so they have specifically trained since their debut, to build stamina and endurance, in order to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight and always sound flawless while performing these intense choreographies. It may be shocking because they sound so flawless even though they are dancing so intensely, but that is why they are such legends and why they are so highly respected in the industry. SHINee are referred to as CDINee or CD-eaters, because they sound even better live then they do in their studio recordings. It is a running joke between fans and the members that you can tell when SHINee are lip syncing because they are so bad at it, that is why they avoid it at all costs. So when you hear SHINee sing, 95% of the time it will be live. (If you ask any of the members, what is something you are not good at? One of the very first things they will say is, "I am horrible at lip syncing." -- I have heard the members say this multiple times with my own ears.) Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing then they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, what you will hear is live vocals. Other Idols and audio sound technicians, etc. who have witnessed SHINee performing live are always blown away, because in the parts of the song where most singers would take a break and rely on the backing track vocals to cover their voices so they can catch their breath and recover, this is where the SHINee members actually ramp it up and become their most powerful. I guarantee, that if you were to listen to them singing a cappella while performing some of their most intense choreographies, they would sound just as flawless. That is why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive. When SHINee debuted they were the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing intense choreography and still maintain stable vocals. Before SHINee, the thought within the industry was that it wasn't possible to sing live and also perform high intensity choreography at the same time. At that time, most groups would either sing live and have simple choreography, or they would have crazy cool choreography but lip sync to their recorded vocals. SHINee was the group that changed the industry and proved that if you wanted to compete you needed to up your game. SHINee live is unmatched and it's literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard that all other groups strive to reach and SHINee are the vocalists that all other artists try to emulate. You really need to check out some of their live concert performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. Nothing compares to SHINee live. Their MVs are good, but those same songs sung live in concert are on a whole other level.

..... I hate this guide, it really isn't fair to everyone in the group and isn't really representative of the group in its entirety . Ridiculously small for Leader Onew, unlike the others. bias of the designer is clear.
