SWR Super Readhead Combo converted to Head

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A very good friend of mine wanted this juicy SWR Super Redhead combo converted into a head and cab instead of lugging around this big, old, heavy beast. I'm still talking about the amp, not me.
The conversion sounds straight forward.... it was anything but straight forward.
Let me just say there was a LOT of editing to cut this video down to the length it is. The total job time was over 7hrs. There's a lot of work that goes into reverse engineering an amp that has features inside the amp that need to be removed and fitted into a cabinet. On top of that, the amp still needs to work. Now, it's easy to say "well, just snip these two wires and solder them here". I wish it were that easy, the job would have taken half the time.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video. It's a huge project.

On one hand you're right. On the other hand, the elderly customer still wants to enjoy the great amp, and now he can carry it, where as in combo mode it was too heavy for him. So in the end, the result is that it in actual fact isn't ruined, because all I would have to do if the owner of the amp wanted to return the amp back to OEM is to remove the crossover circuit from the cabinet, and fit it back into the amp. The mod is reservable. Therefore not ruined. I guess it's a matter of perspective and opinion, along with a customers needs. They don't want to buy a new amp. Therefore this is the best solution without, as you put it, ruin the amp. However, thanks for your view point.
