Swivel Technique - Sebastian Lanser
In this week's lesson at the Drum-Technique Academy Sebastian Lanser talks about his foot technique.
In the second part of the swivel technique course Sebastian Lanser also discusses how to get an even bass drum sound with the swivel technique, how endurance exercises can make a huge difference with that technique and how he's able to even use the swivel technique with his jazz trio.

SWIVEL
Is this more like pressure swivel or ankle swivel Marthyn? It seems more pressure than ankle...
Looks like you have your spring tension fairly high?
Im not talented like him but at least I produce a lot of wood chips on the floor like him! Nice video and thank you

@@Timichaud Oh, you mean rim clicks? I know about those, but I was not aware that they make a drummer's environment look like a wood shop :-)

@MarsHolst20 I play with an unusual double stroke technique I haven't seen anyone else do but I get massive power even in the 240~250 range. However patterns that start and stop are extra difficult. But energy efficiency is bad with my technique because of the muscle groups I use to get power. Worth it though....

That’s why Lombardo is the best ever at double bass drumming
The swivel technique looks ridiculous and unnecessary.

It might look that way but it definitely helps your stamina at high tempos. All these metal drummers wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't effective.

@@drummerdan95 i understand it works and many of my favorite drummers use it, but it just seems any extra unnecessary movement should be avoided at those speeds, if this was about heel toe I would agree it works great because it actually increases speed and stamina (according to drummers like longstreth) even though I personally don't use it.
