Over the years Lineside Video Productions has filmed many Class 620 locomotives at work which have been included in the ‘European Railway’ magazine DVD series. In this programme we have pulled all of this material together to bring you a comprehensive look at the fleet in action across many areas of Switzerland. Very few programmes exist with so many different class members at work - 74 of the then 88 active locos are featured in this presentation.
Two members of the original pre-production series are viewed - numbers 11601 and 604 - as well as a further 72 members of the fleet, including two which have now been scrapped and a further two that appear in their original green liveries.
This iconic class of locomotive has proven to be the most capable freight and passenger electric machine to have worked in Switzerland and even today have not been replaced on their front line duties, although now restricted to freight haulage. For anyone who has an interest in European Traction or Swiss Railways in particular, this is an ideal programme that documents just a small period of this fine locomotive’s history
