Switzerland - How this abandoned mountain village comes to new life
In the Swiss canton of Tessin, a young family is transforming an entire village into a hotel. The abandoned houses of Corippo are being turned into guest rooms, the narrow lanes are becoming the hotel’s corridors. More and more villages in the Alps are dying out, young people are choosing to move to the cities.
Can you imagine leaving everything behind to start a new life in an isolated mountain village?

We just spent our summer vacation in the "Valle Verzasca". This village is amazing and the restaurant even more. We loved it so much; we eat there three times in two weeks. Highly recommended.
It's nice to see them seeing the potential of this historic village. I'm sure that, in time, it'll be very charming and beautiful. They're restoring this place instead of tearing it down. That is something we need in our world, along with better architecture for new communities.
What an admirable idea! A little community space that is fading away; can be preserved and even revived!
Been to Corippo several times, it's so beautiful (but then, the whole valley there is).
Such a beautiful village .The hotel looks so charming .
I'll come here one day. I was in Switzerland this April, i wish I heard of this back then

Really refreshing to watch! I know I'd love to visit, perhaps to even live there 👍😊

How fun! Thank God for adventurous people like this family. God bless you!
Good to see them revive an old village..Hoping they have all emergency services available and reachable to the location in case of any eventuality (not that it would happen..better be prepared than sorry in a remote location)

You guys are inspiring. You got lemons and made lemonade!!
Funny how all across Europe, from Switzerland, to Italy and Croatia, the typical mountain villages turn into tourist attractions and everyone seems to love these places, except the locals. I wonder why that is so... Also funny that investors seem to get interested in these places after almost everone left. Again, I wonder why that is so...

@@mesgard8624, yeah right. But how come the governments are ready to invest in infrastructure, roads, electricity and so on only after an investor buys some buildings and not before, when all the locals used to live there. The locals could have turned the village also into a tourist attraction by renting their houses or rooms if the government would have helped them.

@@TanTan-rf1gu I used to live in an island with 10 thousand population. It was the same case with them as well. Government is to blame but the people usually just get tired of living away from civilization sometimes. Its fun for the tourist as they have the option of living in mainland later.

*“O people! Worship Allah-you have no other god except Him. I truly fear for you the torment of a tremendous Day.”* A tremendous day is the day of Judgment when Allah will gather all Mankind after the end of the world. Once we die our creator will again resurrect us on the Judgment day.And on that day if you have believed in Allah and have followed his book Quran then you will be succeed in the hereafter life. Hereafter life is the eternal life either in Paradise or hellfire depending upon the good and bad deeds you did in this world. 👉God Almighty says to the Mankind, Say(O Prophet), *“Allah gives you life, then causes you to die, then He will assemble you on the Day of Resurrection about which there is no doubt.”* Quran (45:26) Allah almighty says, *Surely this religion(Islam) of yours is ˹only˺ one, and I am your Lord(Allah), so fear Me ˹alone˺.* Qur'an (23:52)

@@vivekbhattacharya9051 *All Hindus must read* Allah almighty our creator says, *“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), Never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (their selves in the Hellfire).”* Qur'an 3 (85) "Ma chidanyadvi shansata" *O friends, do not worship anybody but Him, the Divine One.* [Rigveda Book 8 :1:1]10 Similar message is in the Qur'an which is Final revelation from God almighty. God Almighty says to the Mankind, *This then is, Allah, your Lord; there is no deity but He is the Creator of everything : so worship Him alone, for He is the Guardian of all things, No sight can comprehend Him but He comprehends all sorts of sight, for He is All-Comprehensive and All-Aware.* Quran 6 (102-103) Brahma Sutra of Hindu Vedanta: "Ekam Brahm, dvitiya naste neh na naste kinchan" *"There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not at all, not in the least bit".* God almighty says in Qur'an, *Your real Deity is but One. He Who is Lord of the earth and the heavens and of all that is between them, and Lord of all Easts.* Qur'an (37:5) "Na tasya Pratima asti" *There is no image of Him.* [Yajur Ved 32 : 3] So its not allowed for you all to make idols of God. Because Idol worshiping is prohibited in your scripture. Allah almighty our creator says, *But those ˹idols˺ they invoke besides Allah cannot create anything-they themselves are created.* *They are dead, not alive-not even knowing when their followers will be resurrected.* *Your God is ˹only˺ One God. As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are in denial, and they are too proud.* Qur'an 16(20:22) "Ekam evaditiyam" *"He is One only without a second."* [Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1] Its clear from above verse that there was a messanger sent by Allah to the people who are worshipping idols meaning Hindus. In Qur’an Allah Almighty says, Accordingly, we sent to every community a Messenger, saying, *"Worship Allah and keep away from the taghut(False Gods)."*
Something many Brits are doing all over southern Europe, a whole abandoned village can be purchased for far less than the price of a small house in the UK. Often taking many years to restore particularly if abandoned for many years and in an eartquake region.

@@namgyel6447 You can have these old "rustici" for a lot less than you would think. Biggest hindrance is more that these are protected so you can't do anything to the outside which makes restoration expensive and difficult, esp. if you want to bring them up to a modern standard, and never mind fiber internet. You'd be lucky to have cell reception in those valleys. But even more difficult is the fact that only Swiss residents can purchase real estate, and if you're not a Swiss national only for your primary residence. That pretty much excludes all non Swiss. I hope that happens. Having been to Uttarakhand, I know that it is a beautiful part of the world. In fact, I like to think of it as the Switzerland of India. But it is important to follow the principles of "preservation" in the right proportion Uttarakhand seems to be tempted to follow the "development" model to attract tourists. That is a big mistake. I think the people of Uttarakhand know that, but need to assimilate that.

It's in a good location for a one night layover for hikers or tourists. Other than that, there is nothing much there, making it a bit boring for some tourists. No lake, no wellness center, no pool, no restaurants, no easy connections to any places of interest other than to a mountain road that goes to a dead end. If they get e Michelin star or are able to add on with an entertainment section they will be able to do good business year round.
