They where actually built to prevent even worse Floods which happened multiple Times in Zermatt History. Usually they work, but we had apocalyptic Rainfall yesterday in Switzerland. I've never seen such severe Rainfall. I was driving in my Car and it was like being under a strong Waterfall. And it got stronger and stronger and louder. That wasn't normal. Other Regions are actually hit worse than Zermatt with People missing/dead.

More canals would have to be built between the rivers. This would not only open up new waterways, but could also be used as drainage channels for flood protection.

The future is now 😱

Well, you are a Russian supporter and meant to post this comment only to discredit Ukraine. I am Swiss and rest assured that most of my fellow countrymen support Ukraine as much as possible. Our parliament just had talks about allowing manufacturers of military goods to send needed things in such cases of self defence. So, it‘s a decision of us Swiss and no one elses.
