hello from Basel (Switzerland), nice, nice and interesting video. But I would like to explain a few things in more detail, e.g. the thing with flushing the toilet; This comes from the time of the old buildings, where the pipes and everything were not isolated or laid openly and you could hear everything through the whole house, this is probably only rarely used, although I would recommend showering after 10 p.m. more cautiously (depending on the neighbors). A lot of things are also based on mutual tolerance, where that doesn't work you have to get the law (your freedom ends where it touches the freedom of another). The thing with the vocal cords of the barking dogs, I've never heard that before, so I don't know if that was really the case, but today it's unimaginable, think about it, we're the only country in the world that has a law that keeping individual guinea pigs, budgerigars, etc. prohibits. In fact, every canton, every municipality has its own laws, plus the higher-level laws at federal level, but that too is easy to understand; the Confederation regulates everything that is generally valid at its level (e.g. uniform start of school), the cantons then everything that should be valid at canton level and the municipality then that which should be regulated at their level. To me, that makes perfect sense, because regional peculiarities are retained in this way. The fact that the cantons don't talk to each other shouldn't be true, of course, there are fewer official occasions for that, but only the exchange in the Federal Palace, between national and state councils is an exchange, the cantonal politicians also exchange ideas at conferences, but definitely sometimes over a meal, phone call off. However, the aim is not to have the same laws and regulations for all of Switzerland (in my opinion). For the average citizen, most things remain the same, no matter where he goes in Switzerland, there are subtleties that may be different. It can be different with more specific topics, e.g. the regulations for building a house, opening a doctor’s office, etc. But even that should not be an insurmountable obstacle, because the officials are usually happy to help with information or even with problem-solving suggestions.

Swiss here. Love your video. 1. Some notes: I think you got the gun laws wrong. It's not easy to get guns in Switzerland. It's not like the USA where you walk into a shop and just buy a gun: Deep background checks with the Police and a gun tracing system is mandatory. Fully automatic weapons like machine guns are NOT available for use, only modified for single fire. Gun carrying, transportation and storage have strict laws. 2. Average salary is a bad indicator. Better show the distribution on a graph, or at least use the Median Income or PPP per Capita for comparion with other countries. 3. Moving to another canton (as a Swiss) means you have to exactly do only one document change: Take out the house registration document from the village you leave, and bring it to the new village you move into. That's it. All other "dozens of complicated documents" that your friend mentiones makes no sense. I guess he talks about address changes for your insurance etc. Different for expats/refugees etc. It highly depends on your type of permit. 4. Exactly like the USA, there are local, state and federal laws. And as the most direct democratic country, we vote on all of those levels by ourself with our voice, not through representatives. 5. Your video is awesome and you researched well!

Thank you for the heart-felt review of my country :D It's a small country, literally! I live 5mins away from the gun shop you featured at 6:20 :'D lol *Side note* : Barking dogs do NOT have to legally get their vocal chords cut! It's not a thing we generally do? Swiss people mostly don't want to bother their neighbors (village mentality is strong here) so we try to train our dogs as well as we can: Dog training courses and certificate for ownership are mandatory. You'd get fined otherwise. But cutting vocal chords is generally frowned upon, I think.

@@dimka_makiI have a dog that barks and live in Zruich, ive never heard of such a thing. Also, courses for dogs are mandatory for dogs above a certain size. Thooo we still took ours cause she used to have quite a temper whilst being leashed around other dogs. Also the things with the noise restrictions are highly exagerated. Yeah after 10 youre supposed to be more quiet, but not flushing the toilet is ridiculous, you can even throw a party if you let your neighbours know and dont set max volumes on the speakers, tho maybe thats different in really small towns. Also you can get the swiss pass twice as fast. if you do education here. The bridges dont have bombs on them anymore, they used to have permanently attached explosives but people didnt like that so they were removed. Besides that I think the video failed to ilustrate how amazing public transport is here. You can get to anywhere, even to places where cars cant go, and if theres no train you can be sure there will be a bus that will take you up to that smallest village on top of the mountain

Altho the video is very fun and cinematic, there are a lot of semi truths here. Like the no flushing toilet thing after 10pm is a widespread myth, that is both really outdated and based on a one off event. The law just says you can't make unreasonable noise after 10pm, not what you can specifically do or not. And the thing with no flushing toilets comes from a single court ruling from many decades ago. The person fined there probably had a combination of super thin walls, super loud pipes and super easily annoyed neighbours. I have been living in Switzerland almost all my life and have always flushed and showered whenever i want. Same with dogs barking. I have never heard about their vocal cords getting cut. It may well have happened. But that was probably also a one off thing. But yes generally dogs don't bark much, because we don't usually keep them for protection like in many other countries. So we just discourage it when they bark, so they don't do it much. The map at 15:20 is super outdated. Thats some medieval map. Also no canton bans barbecues in general. They just do it during drought periods to avoid wildfires. But they lift the ban as soon as that's over.

It really depends on what type of neighbours you have. Some people really expect their neighbours to be buddhist monks that practice meditation and silence 24/7, otherwise they call the police directly without even trying to mediate. Some people are just conflictive, even in Switzerland.

It is available for 3 and up to 7 days. It is way cheaper than buying standard tickets. It allows to travel the Swiss rail and public transport nearly everywhere, incl mountain carriages and lake tours. It also allows to visit many many museums and sights. It gave me the opportunity to visit a friend in Basel and climb the Monte Bre of Lugano, while originally staying in Zurich. My host told me about it only when I arrived there.

i've watched so many travel vloggers over the years (and i'm about to go to switzerland, and i'm a tv producer, for what it's worth) and this is a breath of fresh air from the rest of the copy/paste stuff that's out there. great job, i'll be watching more!
hello from Basel (Switzerland), nice, nice and interesting video.

I travelled to most of the places Anton visited earlier this year and I am reliving those moments through this. Switzerland is like no other country I have visited. Its green, clean and the views stunning. I wanted to see the Materhorn just as much as Anton. I went to Zermatt 3 consecutive days from Interlaken hoping to catch a glimpse as the fog/mist covered the mountain most of the days. I almost teared up when I saw it on the last day. I am not from a first world country and for me to see it in covers of a toblerone to seeing in person was unreal. It was a moment of a lifetime.

Visited Azores after seeing your video. Furnas was as great as it seemed in your video. Actually, all of it was. My favorite place on earth.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I love that you're narrating the videos yourself now! :D Beautiful video, Anton

We< have been on a recession since the beginning of 2022, but big media and governments all over the world didn’t want to admit it. We need to be wise and use our brains. Knowledge is power and I’d like all the family to be powerful! I trade and hold profits, ROBERT RUSSEL DANIEL has been doing a great job reviewing all chart, trade and techniques on BTC which has enhance the growth of my portfolio to 9.5 BTC lately.

@@jackiecordova1079 English is weird. "I dont care much about switzerland" can either mean they dont like it, or it could mean that they think its a great country but they dont plan on learning a lot of things about it because other countries interest them more. I've never heard anyone say much bad things about switzerland. The only negative thing ive heard about it is the cost of everything

I'm back to continue watching it. This is a masterpiece, I can only imagine how expensive this was to film, thank you for showing us this beautiful land.
Not only are you a master storyteller, you take FANTASTIC footage and your emotion made a 51 minute video feel MUCH shorter. You made me want to visit Switzerland more than anything else ever has. Great work!
So funny, we read book tonight for kids about Switzerland and here is your video! Amazing, thank you!
Those shots of the matterhorn mountain gave me legit chills
We underestimate how much work goes into creating such a film. Maaaan! Respect.
Every time I see you have uploaded I feel genuine joy. I haven't watched the video yet but I can't wait until I get the opportunity. One of my favorite youtube channels.
This is amazing work and I’ve been missing your documentaries so much!! Massive well done!! 🎉
I have seen a lot of travel videos on KZread but any with Anton surpasses them all , even though it may cover the same places other KZreadrs have. Top notch commentary and production. Best of the best!

I, also, would really pay for watching. Very inspiring, genuine, beautiful, well arranged, and excellent spoke. Please, keep posting. 👏
I'm Swiss and I still wonder where that fairy tale about not flushing the toilet after 10 pm comes from 😅 Let me tell you, it's not true! It's true though that you shouldn't shower after 10 pm but barely anyone does care about this anymore. Anyway: great video, got you a new subscriber!

It really depends on what type of neighbours you have. Some people really expect their neighbours to be buddhist monks that practice meditation and silence 24/7, otherwise they call the police directly without even trying to mediate. Some people are just conflictive, even in Switzerland.

Eu I really believed the fairy tale with water in the toilet after 10, by the way my wife loves silence and I told her that in Switzerland it's up

I love the cow’s gentleness! ❤ Anton, such a Great documentary. One of the best I have ever seen about Switzerland. Keep it up A Tipp for any visitor: Buy the Swiss Pass for public transportation.
@anton somewhere is one of the best videographers and story tellers in KZread. Anton- if you’re reading this, please teach me your techniques in vlogging 🙌
