I would like to see how the layout function works in RHINO .....As one of the best thing in SketchUp besides of the instuitive learning is that you can get out 2D documentations easily...

Interesting. Do you have gumball on? You should also release shift so that you can drag it anywhere. I would just mess around with it a bit and make sure you are hitting the keyboard commands and releasing them at the right time. Let me know if that works!

Just know that how ever long it took you to get to your level of sketchup, will take for rhino. Now with that said you can get to a certain basic level where you can do everything you need. But this will take some time and effort. Are there specific things about sketch up that you are fundamentally frustrated with, or are you just curious if Rhino will work better? Overall Rhino has more capabilities and is much better at drafting construction drawings / floor plans etc. What kind of work are you doing? If you are only creating 3D models, and you can do that quickly in sketchup, probably staying with skp would be the easiest. If you want to eventually take advantage pf grasshopper, then maybe take the time to at least do one project in rhino to test it out. Just know that it takes a lot of time and effort to learn a new program but then you know two programs!

@@NatesStudioDesk thank you for replying. I am an architecture student, recently I've been watching interviews with people who work in big firms, most of those firms use rhino, almost none use sketchup. So, i want to learn it in order to have the experience with it before applying for jobs or internships to such firms. I also know 3ds max but i don't use it alot. Check my latest video, you can see how good I am with sketchup.

@@abbasramadan468 Hey Abbas. You should read my rather long comment above about sketchup vs rhino. It's all specific to what the person needs. First I'd say that just because you don't see people in your firm using sketchup, that doesn't mean anything. Revit is quite a bit more popular than sketchup but sketchup is FAR better than revit in most cases. Some cases revit is better but most it's not and sketchup has much more power in general and ease of use. I can't say I know exactly what it's like to model organic shapes in rhino vs sketchup, rhino perhaps might be a (little bit) better at modeling (organic shapes). However I will say that there is no better program than sketchup when it comes to architecture and that's not just me talking. I can show you. If you'd like you can reply to this and I can give you some examples. If you don't know the following plugins in sketchup; curic, lib fredo, tig, eneroth, skalp section plugin, s4u, etc, if you are not familiar with the plugins I've just mentioned than I can confidently say you are not familar with the power of sketchup. Sketchups power is all in the plugins. If you don't respond no worries, but if you're looking to actually understand sketchup and it's power, you need to understand the sketchup plugins that are available to use first before you can accurately decide which program is right for you. When it comes to architecture, sketchup wins most of the time.

@@arayahomes4308 what are you talking about sketchup is not primarily a parametric program and that's the end of the conversation. Revit vs sketchup buahahhahhah, you made me laugh. I am using on everyday inventor with woodwork for inventor and revit and vectorworks, sketchup was the first and I am done with this crap forever

  • @arayahomes4308

@@SKYLIMI I'll all say to that, is if you haven't used the following plugins than you don't really have a good opinion about this. So have you used the medeek plugins, the plusspec plugins, the profile builder plugins, the lib fredo plugins? If you haven't used those plugins than how can you say that? I regularly see people coming over from revit to sketchup, this is just an ego thing, for 3d modelling of specifically contruction, nothing beats sketchup and when I say sketchup, I mean sketchup with the plugins. I just got a designer of 20 years in my area getting off of vector works and using sketchup and layout exclusively and obviously only because it was faster and better. I'll even go the extra mile and show you. How about you shoot me a private message if you feel you know what you're talking about and send me your email and we can setup a time for free for me to show you. Will lookout for your reply.

at5:20 he said to make a rect solid... you need to type "CAP" and its a cap... in sketchup... you just draw a short line.. it's CAP!!! every little of these command is going to take alittle time away from drawing.. that's why sketchup is still popular.. put it this way.. i can draw faster time than anyone in RHINO.

Thanks Ong Bob, yes surprisingly that’s why I like rhino, there are less automatic commands. So it doesn’t do anything you don’t want it to. For instance maybe you don’t way a solid. If you do you can start off with the cube tool too. So this gives more customization through the process, at the cost of taking a little longer. Thanks for the comments!!
