Switching to Mamiya 645 Pro from the Mamiya 645 1000s My Reasons and My Current Problems。。。

Switching to Mamiya 645 Pro from the Mamiya 645 1000s My Reasons and My Current Problems...
I did not talk about the difference between the super and pro...since when I looked at camerawiki...i thought its not worth mentioning....random timer setting thats different...etc etc
Okay so before I get bombarded by people who follow me and saying im a trader joe (traitor) for moving from Mamiya 645 1000s to the Mamiya Pro I made a dedicated video my reasons for switching and some problems that are arising that I thought it would make sense to make a video on. also
i havent shot with it yet...i need the sunshine still getting back from being sick so hoping to come around sometime to test this camera if its okay to use...
and i bascially talked about the valuable opportunity when considering the overall cost for the switch....its not the final price of the camera that matters more but what the price difference is between hopping from one camera to the other (its not the final price its the middle price) etc etc
and yeah i basically talked randomly especially the strap part since i thought it was worth giving so ideas of going around problems.

Congratulations on a new Mamiya 👏 It is an awesome camera. My dream 645 camera always been Contax 645, but it is far far far over my budget :))

Thanks :) We all think the same the Contax 645 is also my dream camera but it's soo expensive like the Mamiya 7 :) I have to admit the grip on the super/pro feels better than the 645 1000s.

Great video Ryo. Awesome purchase! Legit professional and passion motivations to use such a camera. I used the same peak design system to solve my strap problems. It becomes extra convenient for carrying long zoom lenses when I go birding. It just becomes awkward to carry the camera with small wide lenses, as the camera then stays upsidedown on my side...

The Peak Design Strap never gets old but many companies make similar products but they kinda all fail been using mine for 5-6 years? On all my camera system. Two straps for 7 cameras I think I made my money back :) I never use long lenses and I keep seeing since the center of balance is not in the middle ppl struggle with lenses swinging around.

I'm torn between getting a mamyia 6 and a 645. Obviously different price points but it's a hard decision.

Thanks for commenting :) if I'm right the price difference is roughly 5-6x more for Mamiya 6...but since I wasn't a square format guy when I first purchased a Hasselblad....and realized although I enjoyed my format making a series was a tough to have that square format but the pros of that 6x6 format is you could crop it to 645 either vertical or horizontal if you don't like the square 😆. The 645 Mamiya will be definitely heavier if you include the grip and prism. While the Mamiya 6 is lightweight

I recently sold my 645 pro TL, as I wasn't using it enough to justify keeping it. The 80mm f/2.8 'kit' lens is an excellent lens.

If I'm right the TL is probably the most expensive out of the bunch of 645 series it's unfortunate to hear but still a camera is a tool and each every one of us have needs :) if the tool that we use aren't working to our style it's wise to hop over The 80mm F2.8 is definitely a great lense

@@RM.TokyoPhotographer I have a 210mm leftover that I'd be happy to donate. There is a little separation, but it's still functional. If you're interested, let me know how to get in touch. If not, no worries and happy shooting!

Very cool! I’ve actually considered a 645 Pro…however I think I would keep my 1000s (with that awesome 80mm 2.8 “kit” lens-it is SO sharp) and the 1000s is such an excellent camera. So if I picked up a Pro, I would likely just buy the body and use the 80mm lens I already have. Always enjoy your videos🙏

Your welcome. I thought it would be the wise decision to just switch before the price goes up again and having the chance to change backs I can shoot b/w and color at same location come back scan it and make two videos :) Ryo tries HP5 or Kentmere and does it wrong maybe since I'm a complete newcomer The 1000s is definitely the best camera to start in medium format since the entry price range got me into the 645 size game

Hi Ryo do you have a tip where to find a gw690 in Tokyo ?

I'm actually finding it hard nowadays to find a GW690 the rate I'm guessing is probably 1/15 of a Pentax 67...for 15 Pentax67 I find I finally find a GW690 and the rate is going down

Welcome oh dear.... Aputure blade stuck or did it fall out? So far I never encountered that however I hear the L/S leaf shutter lense have a high risk? Can't confirm since I never owned it but hope you can find another asap. Lenses are like life I wanna give up...but I'm not giving up to shoot more photos cheers :)

@@RM.TokyoPhotographer common problem with Sekor C lenses .. it just needs a CLA and should be good to go. I'm more afraid of the M645 Super electronics and the mirror slap holder that will break ( not sure the Pro version has this issue, search for M645 Super mirror slap defect ). These are old cameras way past their lifetime so I don't blame them :D

I always shoot black and white, and nearly always the one film, so the inability to switch film backs with my 1000s never becomes a problem. Different horses for different courses, I suppose. Any of these cameras provides a great system.

Thanks for commenting:) I initially shoot mostly color negatives but since prices of color ballooned and companies started to roll out budget monochromes like Kentmere 100/400 I m really curious about it since it's half the price. When I'm shooting most of the time I don't have much time on my hand and mostly it's kinda impossible to revisit those locations. So having an extra back having the chance to shoot two exactly same shot u could learn from shooting b)w since I would call myself a complete newbie in that field. The Mamiya 1000s is no doubt the best medium format that suits almost anyone's need at a budget price

The 1000s is a great camera I lived it when I first got it but as I grew the potential of shooting two formats color negative and black and white made me want to opt for the super but I still love the 1000s metal construction and ruggedness similar to the Nikon F3

@@RM.TokyoPhotographer That's Fair :) I just think the build quality and finish is MUCH better on the 1000s. I like the size too. Any time I've ever done a photo shoot with the 1000s (just had one this past weekend), I've never felt the need to have to switch films in the middle of the roll. Keep making great content.
