Great topic. I started my fujifilm journey with the XT2 when I switch from Nikon in 2016. I have shot all sort of photography from real estate, portrait, weddings, commercial campaigns throughout the years. The system is solid and I feel like it’s more of GAS syndrome when people ask is fujifilm fit to handle this type of photography. Anything in your hand this day in age is step up from what use to be the standard ( film camera)

very authentic video - I used to be a big, big Fuji-Fanboy and even worked part time for Fuji. Then I experienced the Sony AF and as a people photographer, I moved on and switched to Sony in 2019. Now, almost 5 years later, things and life has changed. I do less people and more travel related and a lot more video. And then there was the wish to get a smaller, lighter system - and as the Fuji AF has caught up to the industry standard it was time for me to switch back. And boy, what have I missed the film simulations. Glad to be back - and super exited, that all these 3rd-party vendors are now on board. I absolutely love the Sigma 18-50/2.8 as the walk-around lens, and the Viltrox 13, 27 and 75 are really on par with the original XF glass.

This video is so good. It’s literally been on my mind all week, all your points are right on the money on wanting to keep 1.4’s, size, canon’s lens line up, low light etc. I’m a 6D owner and I’ve really been contemplating jumping to Fuji. It’s just hard to part with my babies (35 f1.4 ii and 135 f2) but I really don’t see a future with canon (size of the rf L lenses, not a fan of the full frame prices, size etc. Fuji just seems more enthusiast friendly, affordable, great quality, feature set and a bright future for the ecosystem

Your insights are brilliant, your work is great. I think it would make a BIG difference to see side by side comparisons of the non-L RF lenses and the Fuji X mount f1.4 lenses. The math works in Canon’s favour: the crop factor for Fuji causes you to lose one stop of light gathering advantage. Therefore the Fujifilm f1.4 would be comparable to RF F2 Regarding the colours: again, side by side would be best so we can see how different the looks are with your work between the two systems.

I switched from a Nikon D750 that I have been using for like the longest time to the X-T5. You mentioned points that made me switch, like portability, picture quality (very content, even coming down to APS-C size) film simulation, third party lens availability. I've been enjoying shooting thus far with Voigtlander 23mm and 35mm that are very compact (MF only) and look/shoot like vintage lenses (at widest aperture opening). I'm waiting (two months lead time!) for a Sigma 18-50 f2.8 I have on order, which is again a very compact lens. I also like the dial controls, nostalgic and yet practical. Nikon has the Z fc, but their APS-C lens line up is not as impressive as Fuji's. I feel that their strategy is more like to hook in new users with their ASP-C, then reel them in to their full size lineup. So bye bye Nikon hello Fuji.

I have the Fuji Xt-5 and a few lenses. The Viltrox 23mm 1.4 is awesome. Viltrox is really putting out some great glass. I still have my Nikons but like the smaller frame of the Fuji and the controls on top. The camera menu is loaded with settings that take time to learn and I have been enjoying shooting sharp jpgs with the film simulations.

I jumped from an apsc Canon to a Fuji three years ago and oh my god, I was impressed with the image quality and build quality of the "kit lens" of fuji compared with all the apsc Canon lens I had. And every fuji lens I've bought feels really nice in hands and have great quality, they do feel like premium stuff. Also, the aesthetic of fuji is really attractive and the film simulations are really good. I've made blind test to people who doesn't have idea of photography and 90% of times they prefer the fuji color grading that any lightroom preset.

I'm a Fujifilm fan boy. It kind of happened by a very happy accident when I went from DSLR to mirrorless. I ran into a guy out on a trail the other week. I had my XH2 with the 50 to 140 on it. Just comparing the size of this guy's cannon and 70 to 200. It always blows my mind when I see the full frames and how big the glass is. Fuji is definitely easier to get out and shoot with.

I just switched from Canon to Fujifilm (literally, haven't even received my new camera yet, just sold the last of my Canon gear and ordered a T-x5 and a couple of lenses) But I am admittedly kinda nervous. I had all RF L-glass but it was pricey so it made me nervous to shoot with it and it was heavy as hell so I dreaded taking it with me. I kept thinking, I want to take pictures. I don't want to think about weight and money all the time.

Hi Caitlin - thanks for your videos! I'm a hobbyist family/travel photographer, recently selling my Canon 5DIV and multiple L lenses, switching to Fujifilm X-H2s. My main goal for the switch was to have a smaller and more compact kit for travel, while still keeping most of the quality. I opted for the X-H2s over the X-H2 with the hope that the dynamic range and low-light performance would be slightly better on the "S" - and I honestly don't need 40MP for my type of shooting. ("Mo' pixels, mo' problems, right!?") I'm still struggling to be OK with the stills performance from my main travel lens (18-120mm f/4) - thinking that I'll ultimately have to buy the 16-55 f/2.8 to reach the quality I expect. I also have the 33mm f/1.4 for when I need a faster aperture. Other than my issues with the lens, I'm pretty happy with the switch. The size of the X-H2s is fantastic - just enough of the DSLR ergonomics to feel familiar but way smaller. Good luck with your move and travels!

Thats great to see your enjoying the system and your spot on about knowing how to use your gear and understanding its limitations, i also moved across from a Canon R6 to XH2s and everything you mentioned is very familiar, for the style i do which is mainly people and nature, i found the Color science and skin tones Fuji delivers far out ways the benefits FF was giving me which is mainly high ISO performance. I agree the lenses are the key especially if your comparing to FF, for me I found the 18mmf1.4, 33mmf1.4, 56mm f1.2 & the 90mm f2 to be right up there with any FF lenses and will give you that FF look in shallow depth and sharpness, they really are great value for what you get and half the price of the equivalent Canon RF mounts lenses.

My first Fuji was X-S10, small and really powerful camera with Classic Neg. ( my favorite simulation ). Now I have XH2S and this camera is maybe little overkill for me ,little bit big and heavy. Don't get me wrong, it's great camera especially with 56mm f1.2. BTW Fuji 35 f1.4 is sooooo tempting 🙂

I switched to Fuji from Sony because it just needed less work in post to get the result I wanted. Especially when it comes to just day to day photography. But Fuji raw files are still good enough to push and pull for more serious work. So it was a good solution as a one and done system. The only thing that I miss is that Sony autofocus was basically perfect. Fuji still doesn't have anything that quite matches. The XH2S is close, but the a6000 arguably still has the better autofocus for the price. So just waiting for fuji to implement the better autofocus in it's cheaper cameras. Until then my XH1 is still an absolute workhorse for everything that I do. The older autofocus isn't a deal breaker but it's definitely something that holds me back sometimes.

Its harder to get into wedding photography with a crop sensor camera I feel. Some photographers won't work with you. If you have a portfolio you can use any system you want. But for the people starting out I feel full frame is better unless you are willing to just deal with crop or can find someone that does not care about brands.

I also agree it’s real shame that Canon is restricting the RF lens mount. The third party lens manufacturers have seriously upped their game over the past decade. My first DSLR was an old Sony A35 and at that time there was almost always a significant drop off in quality between lenses from Sigma and Tamron, compared to the Sony/Canon/Nikon glass. These days the gap in quality is much smaller and that’s a great thing for consumers. Sigma, Tamron, and even Viltrox are pumping out excellent choices for photographers on a budget. Not to mention, RF lenses are generally very expensive. Current Fuji X-E4 shooter and loving every bit of the Fuji system/community!

I've been using a pair of XT-5's for 1 year now and I can tell you, it's not the IQ of Fujifilm it's the build quality and the firmware updates. I can't tell you how many times they have frozen during shoots, the back screen hinges are flimsy and one of mine started to wobble after 4 months, the dials are cheap, basically it's a hobby toy to take on your vacation, I can't use them with confidence. I shoot concert and events and I did want stealth and portability, but it won't be with Fujifilm.

It is frustrating that Canon won't even give you basic weather sealing in a non-pro lens, such a vast gap between their lens lines, which probably doesn't bode well for their crop-specific RF-S glass - I think like EF-M and EF-S, RF-S will still be the "poor cousin" and probably not get any reasonable fast, fixed aperture options. Good Fuji lenses aren't always much cheaper, but at least you can easily get solid build/IQ and weather sealing without having to make a big stretch.

After last vacation of dragging my 5DMkIV w/24-70 2.8 around for 10 days, I knew it was time for a change. Will be ordering XT5 this morning, however still very unsure about lenses. Trying to balance it out between keeping quality high with light and unobtrusive for street photography. I’m super torn between the 35 f2 and the 33 f1.4. Buying both seems like overkill. Thoughts?
