This analogue key unlock is a little bit of nonsense. If the key on the inside of the cylinder isn't perfecfly inline with the key on the outside, you can't open the door. This is a big deal.

Interesting review, would be great if Home assistant Bluetooth operation was confirmed by reviewers. Ask Paul H if 3M tap fails 🤣. How easy is it for a burglar to use something (perhaps a walking stick) to knock the internal button via the post box and open the door for them!!!

I really wonder if the battery pack can be modded to use a DC power supply since the A/B battery packs are sequentially used

This was the first review of this that I've seen with actual cylinder consideration and measuring etc. Very good and very comprehensive. Kudos. My door is a security door so the replacement wasn't so simple but I did order a replacement to allow double clutch application. Waiting for it to arrive. Until then, wish me luck and hope I don't get locked out lol.

I installed it on a Mul-T-Lock and it was a pain to install... Sadly their installation plate isn't adapted to some fringe cases like mine. I did manage to get it going in the end though

This is a great review, and good to see some real world installation and measuring, my lock has a thumb lock, which doesn't fit over switch bot, nor is it removable, I looked at another thumb lock that I had, and it's exactly the same the knob isn't removable and there's no way to get the switch for on to it, I have sent them an email just to check that I'm not doing something wrong but it looks like I'll have to change the cylinder, which is a pain :(

I have the first gen Switchbot Lock and I use a bluetooth proxy using an ESP Atom in ESPHome to control my lock via HomeAssistant. This allows you to use the Switchbot Bluetooth integration.

No, It doesn't (for the lock pro). You will need the Switchbot hub 2

I'm really interested in fitting one of these, but there's no way I'm downgrading the security of my locks. Stu, the cylinder you've linked to aren't ant-snap by the looks of it, that means you're looking at mere seconds to gain entry. I need to check if my Avocet locks will allow two key usage.

I have the original lock and the 3m tape is not holding up with careful daily use. So hard to see this fairing much better….

This screws onto the lock, how would it not fare better than 3M tape? Also, my 3M tape ripped off part of the door when I uninstalled it after 2 years of flawless use, so guess something was up with your 3M application or surface it was mounted to. It was really important to remove surface grease and apply pressure for a few minutes during install, then let it cure 24 hours. Granted a tape isn't the best application for this scenario, but lock pro changes this

What if you have to raise your handle before the key will turn. Then auto-lock cant work?

This is the issue I was going to mention. A large number of UPVC door require you to raise the handle in order to engage the 4 locking bolts - this can’t be used with that type of door as it would be easier just to use a key.

Guys the answer, to this in the uk is to use what us known as a keywind lock mechanism. Here you turn the key twice and the internal gears move the cams. You don't have to lift the handle (in fact you cant) and the SwitchBot pro definately supports this.... its how my install works. The downside is you'll need to change the internal lock hardware... but its certainly doable for a competent diyer

Does the unit have an IP rating? I would like to fit it to an external wooden gate.

Great looking product and will be even better when a white version is available. The thing that concerns me is the huge button on the inside. Pets get excited when people approach the door and they can whilst jumping up easily hit this and open the door, or even just a wire coat hangar through the letterbox pulling back will open the door (here the keypad is a giveaway that this can happen). Here I think being able to deactivate the button when no one is home using Geofencing would be an urgent feature required. Will wait and see when Aqara finally release their lock to have a comparison. But this seems to be a retrofit option with a great price tag.

Hi I have this recently installed and with regards to the button you just set it to a double click to activate. That solved the problem with our excitable bouncy dogs

This does the same that Nuki lock has been doing for the last 4 or 5 years.

Because the switchbot lock pro isn’t actually a lock, but instead turns the key in the lock… just find a cylinder that he can’t pick to install this on and you’re sorted for life 😂👌

smart locks are an indulgence too far. they add faff to a simple task. smart home companies need to start saying yes we can but should we bother..
