Swiss CS100 / Airbus A220 London City Airport. Tower View. Full rotation
Please kindly subscribe if you want to see more like this!
The first good weather day of operations of the Swiss Bombardier CS100 at London City Airport.
Now redesignated as an Airbus A220, the aircraft now ranks as the largest, longest-range passenger aircraft certified to operate from London City Airport, flying 2,228 nautical miles in a single-class configuration. It can also fly nonstop from London City to New York in an all-business-class configuration.
The CS100 aircraft has a much lower noise footprint compared to other commercial jets, and provides a better quality environment as it is the quietest commercial aircraft in production.
Check out my new comparison video where the noise of the CSeries is put head to head with that of the E190. • London City. Noise Sho... I think you'll know who wins!

I took this route and I still can't believe a jet this size was landing at city. ... well done!
Thank you for posting this. Enjoyed every minute of it. As one of the performance engineers to work the development of this PW1500G CSeries program, I am extremely elated to hear the engine throttle up to T/O thrust and watch that aircraft lift off. Many more aircraft programs to fit.
Look at the size of those engines! Absolutely beautiful.
Cutest (small) plane off 2019, a baby A350. Cuteness Overload, and so quite as well, my old Honda car makes even more noise with a 1.4 engine..

That is strange, the good folks at Swiss have had nothing but glowing reviews as did the people at Air Baltic. In-fact, the folks at Air Baltic say that their planes are put into revenue service within three hours of the new planes' arrival from the factory in Montreal?
@bary43

Yes agree, these planes were accepted in Montreal then flew non stop to Zurich and Riga respectively with zero problems. One recent Air Baltic CS300 arrived in Riga and within 50 minutes took off with paying passengers for their destination. Now that's performance!!!!

Hi @Vict20. Nice video you took of some of my colleagues here:). I have a question. I am F/O on the A220 for Swiss and a few weeks back took some short clips during the approach onto rwy 09 into LCY. I am making a short video out of it for my social media and the colleagues that did the flight. For that I was looking for a few short sequences seen from the outside. Would it be possible from your side if I use a few seconds out of your video? Unfortunately it's not the same immatriculation but it would still help :) Just let me know what you think. Regards from Switzerland, Gianni

Can it really fly non-stop from LCY to New York? The limitation at LCY is usually the runway length. Can a fully fuelled CS100 take off from LCY? The A318 has the range to reach JFK but the runway at LCY is too short.
@andrelussier6665
6 жыл бұрын
It did already, though with weight limitations to have enough fuel to reach New York non-stop, meaning less passengers but then, A318 has also these limitations but with a Shannon fuel stop.

Probably because the a320 neo and a350 married and born the bombardier c series
Is the bombardier in the Airbus family?
@mic7504
3 жыл бұрын
Short answer, No. Medium answer, the C-Series (A220) now is. The long answer; First in an act of financial desperation (and perhaps revenge) in order to be able to avoid Boeing initiated tariffs on C-Series jets purchased by US airlines, Bombardier gave half of the C-Series program to Airbus so the jets could be built in Airbus's US facility. But Bombardier is in deep deep debt. In order to cover the cost of years of developing the C-Series (and buying up some big plane and rail companies) Bombardier began to liquidate its assets. It spun of its namesake Ski-doo/Sea-doo/CanAm brands into a company called BRP which it owns a much smaller part of. It then sold its older de Havilland designs like the Twin-Otter, CL-415/Superscooper water bomber and the Buffalo (which were bought from Boeing, who had bought them from de Havilland Canada) to a western Canadian company called Viking. Bombardier further reduced it's debt by selling its rail division (think light rail and subway cars) to a European consortium. But sadly this was not enough. It then sold the remaining of the de Havilland/Bombardier turboprop Dash8/Q-series jet rights to the parent company/consortium of Viking called Longview. Who will reinstate the de Havilland Canada name to this line. And still this was not enough. Finally Airbus, now clearly seeing through sales what a winner the C-Series/A220 was, bought the remaining portion of the C-Series that Bombardier still owned (Bombardier had during the economic crisis of 2015 mortgaged a portion to the Quebec Provincial government). So yes the C-series/A220 is now truly an Airbus plane (although other than using a side stick it shares few similarities in design/maintenance with Airbus planes). Its final assembly occurs in two facilities, one in the US and one in Canada. With parts coming from the as far away as Ireland and Morocco (most of these facilities were also sold off by Bombardier). In a sad closing act to the amazing engineering done on the C-Series (I believe) the patents for the light weight and nearly rivet free wing design have been sold to a Texas company. Bombardier (not including BRP) now plans to focus on its world class business jets like the Leer, Challenger (the remaining de Havilland design in Bombardier) and the Global series. But, it now has to compete with its own sibling in the top end of this market as Airbus has announced it will sell a luxury supersized business jet version of the A220...
It looks like a mini A320neo.. which looks like a mini B777 with GE engines.

"Full rotation"? I guess the author meant to say "full TURNAROUND". "Rotation" is when the aircraft tilts nose-up, raising the nosewheel(s) off the ground, just before it becomes airborne.
@Vict20
6 жыл бұрын
I meant to say nothing of the sort. A full turnaround is something the aircraft does at the end of the runway. 'Rotation' in Air traffic Control and Airport operations also is used to describe the arrival then departure of an individual airframe.
