Thanks for sharing your experience. There is loads of things thats one has to consider and you put most of the key points across succintly. It takes time and practice to learn how to definer the good guys from playboys. Been on apps for while still looking but there is no resources online. This was super insighful and helpful. Thank you

I thought I was a lost cause for using MM for nearly 3 years. For context, I've started the whole spouse searching thing on my late 20s, due to "strategic" reasons. Then again, I do frequently encounter the same people over and over again. Not sure if that's anyway a consolation. Because they wouldn't even want to be with you even if you're the last person on earth? I can also relate to not finding the randomness of the universe for spontaneous romantic interaction with a Muslim of the opposite gender. But at least you have a fairly high amount of Muslims in the medical profession. Not the case with Physics Academia, it's a tragedy, but that's another discussion. I don't like minder because it's too superficial. Not the sort of due who automatically swipes right without thinking on a pretty face, but that's what the app was designed for. 90% superficiality, with an added stats card, like you're some character from a fantasy RPG game. Muzmatch was a bit better in that regard, as a higher % of people tend to actually take the time to fill out a bio. I'm a dude, our experiences will be completely different. I get perhaps 1-2 likes within 2-3 months. At the plus side, I'm extremely effective in attracting my target audience. And no one ever dared to speak to me in a rude manner, or harras me. But statistically speaking, I have a worse chance of finding someone online than winning certain lotteries. So I've given up. Can't wait to move to Singapore and find someone "organically"

I’m honestly thinking of ending my life due to the experience on this app. I’ve always been told I’m pretty, but due to a ten year depression I guess I surpressed myself. I’ve had several guys unmatch due to my photos. And then you hear other women are having like 90+likes over night

Naila K I’m sorry the experience has led to these feelings; I hope you let us keep getting to know you. I can’t say my experiences were great. When I think about the idea of a girl getting that many likes, I think it says less about the girl that gets likes but more about the guys... They’re either on minder looking for someone that should be on tinder, or they’re expressing interest in a lot of fish in the sea hoping even one will bite back. These aren’t the right guys for us anyway, and I don’t know a guy who’s been successful with this tactic, or girl who met their match from this, personally. Inshallah you can take a break from this route of finding a match and take time for yourself, and find another way that helps you feel empowered. ❤️

Why do you need 90+ likes, when you get that many likes as sister Saba mentioned, it means that those likes are meaningless...meaning that half the guys in the app came to your like folder, is it something to be happy about? should you be happy? I wouldn't, cause it means those guys didn't get filtered by the like button, they didn't really select you, now it's a burden on the girl's shoulder to go through all those likes and find out who's the good guys, who's a just player, who's really interested in having a lifelong relationship with you....so you see it's not an advantage to have that many likes! If you don't get that too many likes overnight, that means that you have more genuine people who like you. It's sometimes good not to be very popular, it saves us time :) I'm a guy, and we don't get that many likes as an average guy, but when we get even one, we know it's more likely genuine.

Having a muslima as a platonic friend is the most westernized behaviour you can show, people are looking for marriage, as long as they are halal about it and get the families involved early, should be fine. Even if it isnt, there’s no way opposite gender friendships are allowed 💀
