    Super golfy indeed! It’s crazy how many KZread instructors I’ve watched, trying to find an answer to getting through the ball and this is the only place that I’ve heard this. You just solved a problem I’ve been chewing on for quite a while! As an early extender, I knew I needed to extend later and keep that posterior behind me but I could never make it work because I didn’t know about the vertical move! My left shoulder would just level out and work around, Ouch! Now, I keep my spine angle, and I have side tilt, and my rear stays back, my back doesn’t hurt and I DO get my turn for free! Thank you Dunigan!!!

    100% agree, the hands move up from P6 to the finish. Left shoulder moves up and takes the hands with it.

    I finally figured this out. Now I’m shooting in the 90’s. Let the club head do the work. Swing the club!

    JD, at about the 14 minute mark, I noticed that your right shoulder doesn’t dip during the swing. If you look at the bottom of the picture frame behind you, that shoulder stays very level and it’s the left side of your body that generates momentum by coming up and behind. I like it, thanks!

    I definitely do not have a lot of right side bend. But there is enough. If the right shoulder is too high, you may have to flip the club just to reach the ball.

    This is great advice! This has been my main swing for about 8 years since Jimmy Ballard said it on 12 nights at the academy with Rocco Mediate

    I have trouble with consistency with my 4=5 irons.What should I be doing to get solid impact?

  • @JohnDunigan

    @JohnDunigan

    The truth is that you're going to need over 80 mph with a 5 iron to make it go much farther than a 6iron, if at all! The problem is worse with a 4 iron. You may indeed be in need of hybrids to take the place of the long irons. I use my 3 iron for show. I don't think I've ever used it!!

    Hey I'm seeing extensionthru the ball forcing the shoulders up from the ground you think up and your going to top shots not chasing ball brother

  • @JohnDunigan

    @JohnDunigan

    It's only one shoulder going up, not both. And the lead shoulder getting over the lead shoe will take care of business for you.

    Of course the hand moves in an upward motion as the club passes the low point. The body rotates as the golfer shifts his/her weight on to the forward leg. If the hand continues to follow the normal rotation of the circle, why would there would be any need to promote this thought of pulling upwards. I wouldn’t think that anyone would benefit from this thought. JMHO. I have found that my longest and straightest drives or shots have been a result of a clear mind, swinging towards the target with a tension free hands and arms. Works for me.

    No not “of course” when most people are trying to hit down on the ball. Yes the hands will come up eventually BUT they must come up early to get the crack of the whip effect at impact. Do t be so sure of yourself, you were implying that Mr Dunigan’s whole video was redundant which it is not if you were properly paying attention which in my opinion you weren’t, do better next time

    I focused on doing this a while back but had problems falling below plane before coming in contact with the ball. I ended up having to start to extend my arms PAST the ball (irons). I felt as if my lead shoulder helped me maintain the angle I had with my wrist hinge until I could fully release it. Thoughts on this?

    You can certainly use that move in a variety of ways--more low toward the target or not-to help club delivery!
