This week @brysondechambeau is teaching me how to swing faster! I have a goal of getting ridiculously good at golf in 2024, so of course I have to try to increase my swing speed. And who better to get a lesson from than the Speed King himself!

100 % I coached hockey for about 20 years the last few I did the girls high school otherwise they wouldn't have had a coach. The best compliment I ever got was from a girl I'd taught to skate as a 5 year old was at the end of her senior year was thank you for not treating us like girls and just coaching us. Little girls are not pushed like little boys in most circumstances in sports. Girls are imho listen better, take advice, follow direction better than boys but are not encouraged to be overly aggressive unfortunately. We don't push our daughters to murder the ball or the opponent in the name of trying harder.😂 untapped athletic abilities are encouraged in boys but not required by girls unless you're an ass###e like me that wants your best. Built different yep as strong nope but hand eye, quickness, determination ✔ no reason in the world you can't get 165 or more.

i always taught people that they want to feel the inside of their right foot dig in like a sprinter off the blocks when they get to the top of their swing and start the down swing at the ball. that's where every bit of power in the swing is. use that tension in your right foot and leg to spring forward onto the left foot, rotating your hips so that they're slightly open at impact. we already went through where the clubhead should be and what a swing plane is. this was the fourth lesson in my five lesson how to play golf series i sold when i was an aspiring pga club pro. never could read greens well enough to be any good competitively, but i was really good at teaching the swing. because i had a great teacher, myself.

And "stacked on top of the ball" was not lost on me, ha. Actually that is key for me at least so I can compress iron shots which you all covered in another great video. And lastly, after years of line drives with my driver that were straight as arrows but not as long as I wanted, an upward angle on driver added amazing distance and actually increased my swing speed. All learned from your videos.

Golf, to me, is a target game far more than a distance game. And shots from 150 yds in are more valuable than adding 10-20 yd to your drives. A swing to generate speed is seldom a swing to perform for accuracy. You hit driver maybe 12-14 times a round if that. Par is on average 72. Do the math. Sometimes, we over-complicate it which destroys any chance of improving our score. When you play the course on paper according to your strengths, you will find that the ability you have now will be sufficient to match par without worrying about the extra distance. Contain the swing you have during the entire round and manage the course like you planned. It's that simple. Some days the putts will drop, other days not so much. A drive should be confined to a target or landing area in the fairway. That will build confidence and you will build consistency upon that confidence. I hope to shoot my age this year or next. Gary Player does it all the time.

However, I was doing some speed training recently…I hit 200 consecutive drivers full speed. My fastest swing speed and ball speed were my 179th swing. That was a surprise to me!!
