"Breakout" is a popular song by the British band Swing Out Sister. "Breakout" was released as a single in 1986 and later included on their debut album, "It's Better to Travel," in 1987. The song became a significant hit, reaching number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. In the United States, it peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.
Swing Out Sister was formed by Andy Connell (keyboardist), Martin Jackson (drummer), and Corinne Drewery (vocalist). "Breakout" is characterized by its upbeat, jazzy pop sound, blending elements of sophisti-pop and new wave. The song is known for its catchy melody, bright brass section, and Drewery's distinctive vocals. Loved Swing Out Sister back in the day, Corrine Drewery was my crush at the time, nobody could rock the Bob haircut like she did, my favourite track from them is Somewhere In The World, it's a laid back Blue Eyed Soul sound and has a great video 🇬🇧

Written by Swing Out Sister. Corinne Drewery fell off of a horse 🐎 in a riding accident. She wrote the lyrics while she was in rehab. She and the other members like 👍 it. But, their record label hated it! 🙄 But, the band pushed on. They performed in Indonesia 🇮🇩 a few years ago. They still sounded good 👍. CB did not lose much range! 🤯 They were scheduled to play in The Philippines 🇵🇭, but canceled due to Charlie 19.

1986 the year i started loving english songs so much and following the charts. i remember hearing this song when it came out and it was and still fantastic. swing out sister has very good songs like twilight world, you on my mind, fooled by a smile and surrender. the week it entered the top 20 songs in the charts in november2nd 1986 these are some of the song that were in the top 20 the same week: through the barricades (spandau ballet). true colors (cyndi lauper.) you keep me hanging on (kim wilde). showing out (mel and kim). suburbia (pet shop boys). don't give up (peter gabriel and kate bush) living on a prayer (bon jovi). ask (the smiths). you can call me al (paul simon). true blue (madonna). don't get me wrong (the pretenders). midas touch (midnight star). notorious (duran duran). all i ask of you (cliff richard and sarah brightman) from the phantom of the opera. take my breathe away (berlin) from top gum. walk like an egyptian (the bangles). you're in the army now (status quo). can you feel the amount of competition ? many great songs. this is why the 80's were seriously the best.
