Are swollen feet a sign of heart failure?
Swelling of the legs can be a symptom of heart problems. Because of the defect, the pumping of the heart slows and the blood supply is reduced. Legs being a dependent part will retain water and thus result in swelling. The swelling usually is noted in the nighttime and subsides by the day. This is a sign of early-stage heart disease. The swelling problem along with pain can become severe with time.
