"Keep trying it" is great advice. Bitter flavors can be off putting at first. I tried my first Negroni in Italy and didnt like it. The second was on a cruise and didnt seem as bad. Third was by my nephew at his home bar, and tasted better. After the fourth it is now my favorite, bourbon old fashioned is now number 2

I am a huge Negroni fan, I enjoy preparing them for people and it's often like that, it takes time for them to appreciate them. But once you're hooked, it becomes an obsession and you end up with a huge collection of bitters, gins and vermouths....

Nice video, Carpano is my winner....even though I use sweet vermouth predominantly in cocktails (mainly negroni), Cocci di Torino looks similar to Carpano but it is heavier for my taste in the vanilla, but still very very good (had to reduce "my standard quantity" when used it in cocktails). Just bought Cinzano - still to open it - and I must also try the 1757 and the Dollin. The Trincheri sounded very very interesting, as I am towards the bitter tastes. Nice video.

Awesome video! My favorite so far is Foro which is very similar to Cocchi, but much cheaper. Martini is my least favorite by far and tastes like an old pizza parlor to me lol. Too much oregano. I would love a video about the "Chinato Vermouth" style, such as Punt e Mes and Cocchi's Dopo Teatro and why they are really not the same as "sweet vermouth." Naturally, that would lead to a good discussion of Chinato, like Cocchi's Barolo Chinato and others.

My bar is freestanding (a repurposed cabinet, though big at almost an arm span across), might have to figure out if it's possible to get a quiet wine fridge in that area in a way that is attractive-the price per bottle will look less great with a dedicated fridge added ;)

As a Canadian, I lament the difficulty in finding more variety in vermouths. Happily, I am able to make some nice ones on my own. Unfortunately, I have not been able to make anything that reasonably resembles Martini, Carpano, Cinzano, etc.

I love it. Definitely try something towards the middle to see how you like that intensity. There are bartenders That will mix two vermouth together to take advantage of the qualities of both styles and I have not tried that experiment yet but if you still have both bottles at home maybe try your next Manhattan with a blend of both and see how that goes as well.
