    It's really cool to see people growing their own food. It would be great if more people acquired this habit. In addition to improving our health by consuming healthier foods, we contribute to preserving our planet by reducing the use of pesticides. Congratulations on sharing your knowledge and experience with us.

    Great harvest you had. Mine was small, I only did one grow bag this year. Next year I’m going to get a bigger bag. Thanks 4 sharing.

    I find that plastic containers do better than grow bags. Sweet potatoes crave water but grow bags especially the black ones tend to dry out easily. So if you don't have any issues with plastic, use at least a 20 gallon plastic container. I have grow bags that I hardly ever use for anything because of the water retention issue

    So many different ways to use pomegranates. I know your family loves to taste test all your new recipes. Your videos bring peace and happiness to my heart and your dog makes me laugh all the time. Thank you for sharing yourself and your family with us. You give us much more than we could ever give you.

    Hi Sarah, your message makes me laugh, not at you, but I laughed at the content. I don't have a dog and I don't grow pomegranates. I hope you enjoyed my sweet potato harvest though. Have a great day and thanks for watching.

    You know you can use those thick looking. Roots same color as potatoes to make fried sweet potato fries

    I have been told to make potato fries out of the skinny vines instead of tossing them. I harvested a load of potatoes similar to your hall on 9/29/2023, so I really enjoyed seeing you harvest from a raised bed that was similar in size like mine. Great video!

    Great harvest. Where do you get your slips from

  • @gardentalkjamerican871

    @gardentalkjamerican871

    5 ай бұрын

    I make my own slips. It's pretty easy. I showed how I did it in one of my earlier. And forget placing potatoes in jars of water with tooth picks. That's old school and does not work well. Plus it's as slow as mud. If you have cold Winters, the second week of Feb is a good time to set your sweet potatoes to grow slips. All you need is a wide shallow container. Fill the container to about a quarter with potting soil or seed starting mix, lay the sweet potato on the side lengthwise, cover it halfway up the side with the soil and water it. If you have a sunny window place it there and keep the soil moist. I place my trays on heat mats and I give them 6-8 hours of plant lights. I pinch off my slips when they are 6"-7" inches and place them in glass jars with water and place the jars In an area that is well lit or at least has filtered sunlight. By last week in April, which is usually after last frost I begin planting. Grow your own slips. You'll love doing so!!
