You should have seen him in his prime . My forst rock show was skids and Pantera when I was 14. On the slave to the grind tour. Still to this day 34 years later I've not seen a vocal performance to match

Rockyrandy, you truly know music and musicians because I’ve also praised the talents of Steve Stevens for years. If you are a true 80s fan, you can tell right away that it’s Stevens playing immediately. Nobody, and I mean nobody could rapid fire that whammy bar during a solo or anywhere else in a song like Stevens. He was the god of the rapid fire whammy, yet he was more than just that. He was brilliant in the way he created the musical structure, especially the guitar, obviously, from one chord, or even note, to the next. People just don’t understand the brilliance of guitar work all those years with Billy Idol. There is a short interview with Steve on KZread with him explaining how he found the opening riffs to several of Idol’s most successful songs. It’s a jaw dropper because of the ease and talent the man possesses. I’ve often played the game of build your band with the most underrated musicians and they can’t be from the same bands. Mine has always been: Singer: Jani Lane - (Warrant) Guitarist: Steve Stevens - (Billy Idol) Bass: Nikki Sixx - (Mötley Crüe) Drummer: Kenny Aronoff - (John Mellencamp)

Ya sure.....i was front row since day 1 of there 1 st album. Saw them over 20 times. Adler was gone before the use your illusions.

Scott Weiland on lead, Bryan Adams on bass, Steve Stevens on rhythm (wha?) and Sebastian Bach on Vocals. Take that to the bank!

Sebastian is one of the most underrated voices in metal. I believe if he would have had songs like this that his legacy would have been a hundred times greater. Just got through listening to him do another gnr song called "patience"live,and he killed it. Nice to see Tesla is out there rockin as well. Neither one as great as ozzy,ratt or motley in their hayday but still worth listening too. Should've included great white in there as well with megadeth. Not disrespecting some of the other greats out there. It's 5 n the morning and those came to the top of my head so don't start hating on me.80's metal was the greatest decade n music,PERIOD.

until he pissed it all away loved his pre-stroke drumming, he's not the same...but he has made an incredible recovery. Kudos to Steven Adler

i agree. he actually added to the solo and interpreted it because he can. he was literally improvising in between some of the basic licks. SS never ceases to amaze. his work with billy idol is amazing, and there were not that many singer/guitar pairings quite that good. billy idol's sound was almost created by SS.

That's why you should never compare music or musicians in general. There will never be a winner, because just like beauty it's in the eye of the beholder. It's totally subjective there basically never is a winner other than music itself. There are only losers if you think this way. Music isn't a competition. Don't put a limit on creativity. Steve is already established. He doesn't need to prove anything to anybody. He's one of the gods already.
