    @@mjtruth1039 If that were the case, you'd surely just leave the statement at "we'll serve anyone at all". I still maintain that a barber and a baker saying "we'll serve anyone *and to anyone* at all" can really only be taken one way; or, at the very least, the implications are fairly blatant.

    This commercial was HILARIOUS! Just the part when they randomly toss their pints of drinks. What was that supposed to signify? The way Angela hesitates before tossing hers, it seems like there was only one shot of it and they went with it (with George leading the way, of course).

    The hilarity of the commercials belies the intensity of the story. The musical's message is a two fold criticism of how very easily those seeking social justice can use any argument to justify violence, even when the oppressor is clearly evil.

    No. I mean, it’s kind of hard to compare them properly since with George we have the 1982 filmed tour and the 2001 concert to go off of, while the only performance footage we have of Len is a bootleg of the original show filmed with a camera from the 70’s. He’s in the cast recording CD, but that’s not the same as seeing him actually perform.

That and it doesn't do the whole "demon" thing where it flares out on the sides. I kind of does, but not as much. This also may have been before they filmed it, so he may appear younger.

    Setherract while I see your point( I like your point with the makeup) I see more value in a more subtler Todd until Epiphany. It makes the idea of people continually coming to him afterwards make more sense, and is one of the reasons I prefer Hearn to Cariou in the role. With Cariou, (audibility mind you) he seems ready to snap at any time, but with Hearn, there’s a sense of somewhat collectedness, and makes epiphany seem more like an “epiphany” than him just finally crackling

  • @Ayden_B

    @Ayden_B

    Setherract except Toby gets to see what happened to his loved one first hand, and while Todd probably always had the intention of killing Turpin and the Beatle, he never got to see what happened first hand to Lucy. But indeed, they’re very much alike. The both want to protect their loved ones( though with Todd, it’s more of a memory), both do what they do for women in their life, and both kill when they find out something has happened to said loved ones.

    I think that gesture is to signify the carefree, randomness of what they've decided to do... just kill whoever & "whatever." Even though Mrs. Lovett gets the idea going in the first place, she very much wants to follow his lead because she adores him... therefore he toses the drink first. The film version lost the fun irony of this song.
