@capcadetbrown you have to do the GMU which is the basic military education. the course covers 3 months. After that it's up to you by choosing either soldier/marine ( six months probationary period) Serve the "home Guard" or apply to the trainee education for becoming any type of officer

@jimmyn89SWE You'll have doors, windows, roof tops, there's literally millions of places where the enemy could be. Nearly 70% of my country (Sweden) is covered in forest and our uniforms blend in extremely well in our forests ( I know from experience), it wouldn't require a super well trained or well equipped force to cause a lot of trouble for any attacker here.

@dahvievanity1995 A smaller force can move faster and more silently than a large force and can use this to lay ambushes or the strike at the flanks. The Finns for example made great use of ski troops during the winter war, they moved swiftly and quietly and blended in with the environment. A conventional assault probably wouldn't work for us but we would be able to advance on enemy troops using other types of warfare.

@Mrvort Well preferably you would take that up with him, send him a reply or something. And yeah I prefer these also. This is some of the best the Swedish army has done. They did have some very strange ones also, you were basicly tested right there in the ad. Then you were told that if you managed to solve the puzzle you should probably go to bla bla bla site. Was pretty cool.

@dahvievanity1995 The Spartans had thousands of Greek allies and according to modern estimates the size of the Persian army was more like a hundred thousand or so. From what I understand the terrain at Thermopylae was quite difficult, and delaying a much larger force as a defender isn't that difficult, there's a rule of thumb that the attacker should have at least three times as many troops as the defender.

@dahvievanity1995 The ancient historians like Herodotus who claimed that the Persians had millions of men weren't there either, and it's not like it was uncommon for people to exaggerate the size of the enemy forces. And defending is easier than attacking, defense generally requires less troops than offense. In modern war for example if the enemy is defending a city it will require manpower to clear him out.

How many troops then would be required to deal with a nation with an intact military with modern equipment and good training?

The economic success of countries like China and Vietnam are to due to their market oriented reforms, in China more than 60% of the GDP is generated by private enterprises. And we are not in NATO and our soldiers do not kill civilians.

@xXxRedStar2255xXx The Korean War was a United Nations mission, security council resolution 84 called on UN members to assist the Republic of Korea. The US was not an aggressor, North Korea was. And you say the killed for profit, but what have they gained from these wars? They haven't stolen a single drop of oil from Iraq, if they want Iraqi oil they will have to buy it just like every other nation and thanks to the war the price of oil is a lot higher, not to mention the cost of the war itself.

@jimmyn89SWE Gaddafi has not done anything impressive. Israel for example is largely covered by desert and they're surrounded by enemies on all sides despite this they've managed to create a modern and wealthy democracy. And unlike Libya they have no oil, in fact they barely have any natural resources at all. And in Israel the Arab minority has the exact same rights as the jews, Gaddafi on the other hand drove out Jews and the Italians from Libya.
