Today I'll travel from Stockholm to Gothenburg on the X2000, Sweden's high speed train. Join me for the journey, as we look inside Stockholm Central Station, get on board and settle into our standard class seat for the 3 hour journey from the east coast, to the west coast of this beautiful country.
I'll show you the seats, the top speed this train reaches and we'll take a little wander and explore the train peeking into the first class carriage and the bistro car.

While not as scenic as some of the famous railroads of the world, the journey between Stockholm and Gothenburg offers many pretty sights. As a resident of Skövde, one of the few stops along the line, I sometimes travel by rail, and despite having done a hundred times there are parts of the way I never tire of watching.

It’s an enjoyable journey, I like how the scenery changes from fields and plains to more hills and rivers the closer you get to Gothenburg. There’s some really nice countryside in Sweden, it’s a country I’d really like to see more of!

I am a Britisk guy living in Skövde. In my opinion, a convenient central location in Sweden for travel. My Nephew who lives near Manchester is planning to visit me soon this year. One thing I will stress to my family members when thay are here .... how to pronounce Skövde properly!

Thanks for the support! This was a great train ride, luxury compared to what I’m used to back home!

Honestly. the food in the Bistro is okay for what it is. But seriously overpriced. The 7/11 stuff is just as good and most assuredly a bit cheaper. Personally, i'd go down to the Coop on the bottom level of Stockholm central and purchase snacks/food for my journey. A lot better prices. Just a little tip for fellow traintravellers

The X2000 is capable to go up to 200 KM/H and that is the max speed on Swedish railroads even if the new X2000 (X3000?) can go in 250 KM/H.

It has a top commercial speed of 200 km/h (125 mph), but has reached 276 km/h (171 mph) in a test.

New ERTMS signaling installations will make the speeds on many already existing main railway lines in Sweden capable of allowing 250 km/h for commercial service. For example the Stockholm- Gothenburg and Stockholm-Copenhagen route. Which I think will allow the X2000 to operate at higher speed than 200 km/h, not sure if it will go all the way to 250 tho.

Yes, though two new 250km/h capable lines are being built.

And there's the existing Grödingebanan which is also built for 250km/h

Today, the Swedish railway network is served by trains travelling at a maximum of 200 km/hour. However, several lines built over the past 25 years have largely been built for speeds of up to 250 km/h with mixed traffic, and the 2018-2029 national plan includes additional railway lines that are largely built for 250 with mixed traffic. So it might just be a matter of time :)
