Sweden/Norway 2024-05-15: Packrafting Görälven (Ljøra) 1/3

After 5 days of snowshoeing across the Fulufjället plateau (using our packrafts as pulkas), we put in at the village of Gördalen (Sweden) for a descent by packraft of the Görälven river, also known as Ljøra in Norwegian.
Rapids start right away and after a couple of kilometers we cross the border into Norway. Rapids continue until the Villa Fregn hotel, after which a more quiet stretch follows. A while later, class II-III rapids however return in earnest and continue all the way until the village of Ljørdalen. During this stretch I make a wrong move and take a swim, which is not surprising as today's flow is the highest of this year's spring melt season, and we reach leg speeds up to 17 km/h.
Paddling is complicated by our laden boats, even though we did decide to leave behind some unnecessary gear (such as snowshoes) in a cache in the woods, to be picked up later.
