SWCP Day 36 Salcombe to Strete 4K

It's an early start knowing I had around 20 miles to cover. I head into Salcombe where I am left frustrated having to wait an hour for the water ferry. Once across to East Portlemouth I was met with some beautiful views back to Salcombe made even more impressive by the early morning light enhancing the turquoise water. An enjoyable but occasionally exposed mid cliff walk saw me pass Gara Rock, Gammon Head and onto Prawle Point where for a while I enjoyed the thought of being the most southerly person in Devon. On towards Lannacombe Bay is an interesting stretch of coastline, walking almost at sea level for the most part where agricultural fields meet the sea. Finally I got my first view of the impressive lighthouse at Start Point. This gave me a mental boost as this was now familiar ground and I could picture how far I had to go. After climbing up from Start Point I continued on to the lost village of Hallsands, onto Beesands before arriving at Torcross and the memorial to the ill-fated Operation Tiger. A long easy walk along Slapton sees me reach my final hill of the day up to Strete and my camp site.
