I absolutely adore red shades and I can never have enough ❤🌹🖍️🔴🟥❤️
I looove reds and honestly my favorite true red-for me, is bright red from Rosa gallery, bright and punchy 🥰 thank you for swatching it's so helpful to see them all together

That sounds so lovely, can't go wrong with a beautiful intense red!
This was very relaxing and interesting. I have to agree that the top row really looks more orange on camera. The red swatch that looks like “red” is perylene red. Renae Clark nailed Cherry Quin Red as the perfect flamingo color. 👏 I remain adamant that this is not red and not any cherry in the world.! But I do grant it would be great for some fowl friends. The permanent alizarin and the cadmium red are lovely dark reds. Thanks for the video, Jules!

Flamingo is entirely correct, I was so confused when everyone talked about the Quin reds (PR207 and PR209) as red, and when I got them I realised they're not red at all! But they totally do look red on camera. So confusing, think I'll stick to the actual reds haha

@@chromaphile I totally agree!🤓
I envy those of you who are able to destash art supplies 😅 I have a chronic case of "What if I change my mind!?" Happy new year 🎉!

Oh don't get me wrong, I've been in that phase for a while. And now those paints I said I'd get rid of are just sat in their own box. We'll see...
Welcome back! I am still on the hunt for my perfect reds so this was helpful.

I was hoping it would be helpful, that makes me happy :D
I really dislike the perylene drying shift and dullness. I lean more towards cool reds than warm. My ride or die mixing red is red rose deep by da vinci. I also love the quin red pr209 from them, which I would describe as the perfect flamingo color. For red reds I have cad red deep and cad scarlet, I rarely use them though.

It's so interesting how everyone's taste differs! I've heard a lot about the perylene drying shift but haven't really noticed it in the two main brands I use (Roman Szmal and Schmincke)

@chromaphile to me they always just look dull. I don't know how else to describe it.

Glad you think so!
I love learning about these reds and their pigment numbers. Say could you do a post about the numbering conventions? So cryptic to me! Thanks Jules! ❤

I'm not sure about the numbering myself - I'm guessing it's just the order that they were registered in?
Oooh so many choices, I'd have a heck of a time deciding which ones to let go of! Good luck!
