I installed a aftermarket oil pump. I think it’s Chinese getting low oil pressure now. Not enough oil in the head so the engine is running rough. Good you installed an original. Toke the head of checked al the oil gallery’s if something is clogged up. I’m afraid I have to buy and original pump after all. Thanks for the video and take care 👍

I’m sorry to hear your experience with an aftermarket oil pump, I believe the second hand engine I purchased also had an aftermarket oil pump which failed and as a result spun a few bearings and damaged the bore on one of the cylinders. Better to get original from vw even though it’s a lot more expensive. At least you’re on top of the problem before it causes any major damage. Good luck buddy 👍 🤙

Hi 2 question can you take pump off without removing the sump? Also whats a good warm tick over oil pressure. Im getting 20psi at tick over and about 60psi at 70mph in 5th.

Hello, what was reason for replacement of oil pump? Noisy engine or low pressure in system? Thanks Good job :-)

Thank you 🙏 The engine I was building looked like it seized from the lack of oil. Once I rebuilt it and tested it, the pump wasn’t working, I figured that the pump must have failed for the engine to seize so it was replaced

Awesome video!! Did the same on my volvo! But wont prime and makes air leak noise when turning over the motor. Any Ideas anyone? Thanks

One of my old oil pumps done that after installation and wasn’t priming, that’s why I got a new pump and new gaskets, not sure if it was the gasket or the pump 🤷‍♂️

Many thanks for responiding ^^ Just redid the main gasket. Im thinking probably the pickup pipe o ring is not sealing up..... Also I didnt prefill my pump could be that as well

Why duda you change the oil pump??? Noise or pressure?

The used engine I got had an oil pump failure which seized the engine

It's coming together now Twiggs, not enough hours in the day eh! Pukka job. Shame about the 'how to' you wanted to do ☹️.
