Our happy day was selling a Winnebago view on a Mercedes chassis. I would never own a Mercedes diesel again. I'd keep Desert Snow, hands down.

There are so many sensors that its ready to get a check engine light. At least now they have a DEF sensor. But if you turn off the engine while the DEF is regenerating, you get a check engine light. If you start the engine 3 times without figuring out what the light is about, the engine disables a full throttle. We thought that was a dangerous possibility. And, last but not least, repairs on a Mercedes are a deal breaker. Our View was a 2013, so, in fairness, maybe Mercedes has fixed all those issues. We went back to a bumper pull and are very happy. Although I miss the built in generator. Happy travels, love your channel.

I don't get the love affair with the Mercedes chassis. They're expensive, the parts are expensive, repair costs expensive, and parts and service can be scarce - especially in the middle of the country. There are around 3000 Ford and Dodge dealerships in the country, 7000 Chevy (!), and only around 400 Mercedes dealers. Plus, you can find gasoline everywhere but you don't always find diesel. A "driving to Alaska" video I watched the couple pulled into a gas station and they had no diesel there - in the middle the Alcan highway! Yes, operating costs on a diesel engine are cheaper, but that's not enough to sway me.

Operating cost is less? How do you figure? Where is live diesel is 25% more expensive. So if the sprinter gets 17mpg and the gasser gets 12.75 it’s a wash. Oil and fuel filters are way more too. Then add def.

0k, I'm so happy that Desert Snow won! When you showed the outdoor grill package and the 2024 doesn't have it...I thought, 0hhh Tanya loves to cook outdoors! The generator really got me. I'm not a huge fan of propane. Glad too see Desert snow in the videos :)

Desert Snow all the way! 👍 The Mercedes Ekko would be great if it was your first RV, but your Ekko is like your child: you have grown up together, and made improvements big and small. You have made Desert Snow a home, and it looks like it is a cozy place to be ...airplane seats notwithstanding. Besides, how could you leave your child? 😄 All the way through this video I kept thinking 'how much more is the Sprinter-based RV going to be?' I knew it would be substantial. May you have many, many more wonderful miles in Desert Snow!

We love the out door kitchen in ours but I can see due to it being small why many would prefer having the space for more storage! It’s also my guess that with weight being a factor and the redesign of the interior and the new length that something has to give. I will say with that extra space mint run garage you can always add a portable refrigerator/freezer I you need it!

Keep the ford transit chassis. Cheaper to fix and fewer things to go wrong. It’s also easier to find a ford dealership on the road

I would probably get the sprinter Ekko with the large battery and no generator then have a gas generator put in and have a small gas fuel tank added for the generator. I like the 1/2 booth thing going on in the new Sprinter better. I would like to see a diesel-based heating system in the Sprinter, I feel like that is a missed opportunity and diesel would be cheaper to heat with than propane.

Alot of the categories where Darth Vader won had nothing to do with being mercedes. Mercedes chassis would be a nightmare as pointed out by all the comments. I would get the 2024 on the transit chassis..best of both worlds. So frustrating Ford can't make more of the transits, sort of forced Winnebago to go to Mercedes from what i have heard.

I prefer a Transit chassis. The Sprinter is too expensive, not powerful enough, has too low cargo carrying capacity, and not fuel efficient. Plus, you have to deal with a sooty smelly diesel and DEF and higher maintenance costs.

Great review!! That helped a ton. Wife and I are looking for our first RV.

Did you ever think about getting a wrap for Desert Snow to make it look like the transport from Star tours😊

I literally spit my coffee "Storm pooper".😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I vote ...keep what you have. The interior changes are not so drastic that you couldn't make simple mods. I definitely would change the "airplane" seats. They don't look comfortable at all.

Personally, I like the Ford I can get service in every city and I talk to some people who had a Mercedes Anna RV park and they said if they can they’re going to switch to the Ford because they needed service in their Mercedes and two problems with it when it’s not everywhere. Secondly it’s grossly expensive every time they get it so if you have deep pockets, congratulations if you don’t want to spend a fortune on every little part like $900 for a part on a mirror that fell off on the freeway you know whatever it wasn’t the camera either. God bless you I’m sticking with Ford.

I prefer yours because my sun sealer is laid out like the new one. I had to remove the table permanently because in inclement weather I couldn’t get up and walk through to the bathroom. It was most inconvenient to have the table block the walk way. So I purchased a small TV try and I stow it behind the seat next to the door. So that’s a smaller answer so i often just stand and eat at the counter so not really cool. So I am looking at other rigs so I have a table out of the narrow walk way. I liked yours. Anyway if I change rigs I will definitely get one that will tow a small car or trailer when needed. Mine has the ford eco boost and I love that. It’s got 15 mpg and up to 17 mPG on the flat and lots of power

Great video you guys! Thanks for the comparison! Great job! Love love love the kitties!! From WA state here. I'm in my 28' Thor Chateau. 2000 model that only has 34k miles on it. Engine looks brand new. Drives beautifully. So comfortable to drive too. Sitting in my sons driveway in it while I finish my renovation. These older models have great stuff in them as this one has full bathroom with full size bathtub besides the shower in it. Walk around queen bed which I swapped mattress to a twin mattress. I wanted some of the space that held the bigger mattress to instead be a bench seat to having a 4' long side table where my ham radios and my computer will be sitting. I took out the dinette set and instead have a 6' long butcher block table going across under that window which it will extend the kitchen counter out but the kitchen table is only 30" high instead of kitchen counter height. I too took out the range/oven cause i didn't want to use the propane it takes to run it. I have the above counter plug in toaster/roast/pizza/bake ovens that I can put on counter when I need it. Also I use the induction burner when needed. i replaced the double kitchen sink with a single beautiful sink. My award winning architect sister in law built my backsplashes for me. She's from England so therefore has a different pallet in mind for colors. I love love love her styles. Be safe out there! Would love to meet up with you guys on the road at some time!

I watch several RV channels. Your Star Wars Decor reminds me of David the RV Jedeye. (I'm a big fan of sci fi and RVing, so it all works.) New stuff is fun, but transaction costs and depreciation makes me tend to hold onto what I have until it's unreliable or unworkable. I'd probably have kept the present rig too.

Just say’n…I would imagine y’all could renovate your current dining area to reflect the 2024 lounge style area if so motivated. 🚌

Thanks for this video. I seems you really like Star Wars. I like the new layout changes. I'm not sure about the new chassis. Just because is a Mercedes and a diesel engine, it could easily increase the base price over $12,000 with no added benefits, and a bunch of negatives. I don't know if Mercedes 2024 got a better engine but, the Sprinter van engine used to be lagging, specially in hills, while the same drivers preferred Ford Transit's power and quick response to the push of the pedal. More importantly, diesel fuel is more than 40% more costly than gas, and only saves like 10%. Finally, a diesel engine mechanic is more difficult to find and much more expensive the a regular gas engine mechanic. So all in, probably the Mercedes RV should be at least $50,000 cheaper than the equivalent Ford Transit RV just to cover the unnecessary cost and burden of driving a Mercedes. Regarding the layout changes, the kitchen. I remember the guys from "The Fit RV" making the same changes swapping the location of the sink with a bigger and deeper one (square or rectangular sink). They also eliminated the propane and got an induction cooking plate. If I remember correctly, they added a power outlet and a power switch in the kitchen as well. So I guess, Winnebago liked "The Fit RV" their modifications as well and adopted some of them. Never understood why you can't have the exterior kitchen, if you also want the roof pop-up tent.

I do believe that people have their own style, too me the "Star Wars" theme makes the Ekko too busy. Cluttered. But you do you.😊

Oh the same beds as ours!!! What sheets do your use and did you change out the mattresses ?

I think with a few modifications that would certainly be under $23K Desert Snow would be perfect. Take out the propane stove top put in countertop with storage underneath. change out your airplane seats and put in a small rv love seat or build your own and upgrade your captains chairs. If Dave is handy most this would be reasonably inexpensive

Our MB dealership was very helpful and most of what was problematic was covered by recalls. Thank goodness, or it would have broken the bank.

I believe the Mercedes is diesel I had a friend who had one for period of time and sold it and the reason they did was they said everything we have done on this Mercedes cost four times what it should it’s really expensive to maintain now that’s just a heads up from someone who had an RV with a Mercedes and they traded it for something on a Ford so it just depends on how deep your pockets or I guess.

I like desert snow better than the newer one😊

Oh, you're going to love setting the dash and audio clocks on the MB chassis. It's so intuitive.... not. A year and a half later, which happened to be this morning, I watched a couple of KZread videos and set both of them. Side note: don't hit the "hold for three seconds to reset the dash" if you don't read German (according to one of the KZreadr's this morning. I'm not verifying). 😂 2015 Winnebago View 24G on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis here.

@LetsTurnItUpWorld I don't know enough about the Ford Transit chassis to have an opinion. I do know I'm disappointed with MB. At 68k my diesel engine through a rod, and their response was "sucks to be you". $20K later, I have a new engine.

Darth Maul, if you only watched the movies, was rather a disappointment. However, if you've watched through the entirety of the Clone Wars and Rebels on Disney Plus, he becomes a MUCH more interesting character. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Ahsoka comforter! I think the 2024 would lose it for me BECAUSE of the extra length and the leather meets kitty claws. Plus deisel....no bueno. The induction cooktop vs. propane is nice though. Can you still get the Ford chassis in 2024?

All great points! Love the Ahsoka comforter too! It’s soft and warm! Believe you can get the 2024 on the Transit Chassis but it might have the layout similar to ours! What do you like about the EKKO? Thank you for watching!

Congrats. I wish I could swap my miserable wreck of a van for something that won't break down every other week. But alas, I am doomed to be just S.O.L. I'm going to park somewhere and pray I don't have to start that hunk of junk up and move very often.

Yes, we love what they did on the interior!

Just watching the intro and to be CLEAR the 2024 EKKO is offered on the Transit and the Sprinter - different floor plans and chassis = 2 different models.

Thanks TJ, yes, we understand that and have the specs from the dealer for both. We were obviously focused on the Sprinter Ekko versus our Transit. We appreciate the feedback and thanks so much for watching!

If both are bolt on to the frame i wonder why either floor plan can’t be chosen or why not make one floor play with best of both & then u can just choose the chasis…🤔

Literally thought of you two when I saw the ‘24 on the Winnebago site. The Mercedes chassis, new seating, convection oven/induction top are solid sells for me. I may need to roll to the dark side lol!!
