@@JustDatBoihe‘s only pointing out People that are distracting to the show. Plus you shouldn‘t forget that those performances are pretty much a life‘s work and should be respected for what the are. Saw them in Portland last night. This was absolutely mesmerizing the entire time. I was so captivated from beginning to end, in a way no other musical performance has before. This video is really good and still doesn't capture just how insane this stuff is in person.

I was also at Portland!! And you tell no lie. Some magic tea, a big red curtain, and that throat singing opener act--it felt like David Lynch at sunrise. Did you see the go go dancer upstairs? One thing's for sure... I expect a HELL of a live album from this tour.

Normally I hate people around me at a performance like this recording the whole show. That said, thank you Lord for you!! Saw this show in Cleveland and wished I could relive it again and thanks to you I can. This show was a truly religious experience and you captured it beautifully!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

i love watching the drummer on the hanging man so much, that drum part looks so fun

Thanks for posting! Saw them in Seattle last night, and I was astounded at just how insanely powerful and commanding the show was. It’s one thing to listen to their albums with your headphones cranked to the max, but it’s a physical phenomena to be in a concert. "Loud" doesn't cut it. I've heard Michael mention in interviews that, for an effect that he wants, it has to be extremely loud. I had a number of moments where these massive sound waves were reflecting around the room and clashing with itself (with the use of a delay effect pedal) and the result is of course simply not reproducible on a recording. I'm extremely grateful to have seen them live. I also had the privilege to shake Michael's hand and look him in the eyes and say "There are no words for what I wish to express to you, so I'll just say this: thank you so goddamn much." The way he listened to me say that meant a lot to me.

I saw them in Paris in 1988 after 'Children of God' (Jarboe co-authored) was released and it marked a big change in Swans music and live performance. "By 1986/7 Swans had run its course with the physical assault of sound that we had employed previously for the most part. I wanted to move on to other things and didn’t want to get stuck in some style, which in our case had the potential of becoming cartoonish if we’d continued in that direction. So, I pushed the music into unfamiliar territory." MG Of course Swans music has evolved since but it remains for me their CULT album. Jarboe was also a great contributor and I guess she is missing in recent releases.

@@trowftd it begins at the time code marked as « Birthing ». Also, it’s not really Cloud Of Unknowning. During this tour they played a live rendition of the end of The Beggar Lover, which is based around previous songs samples, including C.O.U. You can tell because of the presence of “Leaving Meaning”‘s lyrics on top of it all (also sung in a different melody)
