Jim and Chris dig into their comic book roots in a Marvel vs DC episode of Trash Movie Bonanza. This episode takes a look at Swamp Thing and Howard the Duck. Two campy movies but one is a heck of a lot better than the other. We have opinions about these movies - do you?

If Robin Williams did the voice probably this movie could have been a success. I remember watching this as a kid, I imagine my parents had no idea what they were getting😅, the duck felt incredibly deadpan and inexpressive, like maybe the suit wasn't giving us anything at least the voice could have been very expressive to salvage this

The issues of “Swamp Thing” where ST travels are really cool because his body is made up of the local flora. Definitely check out the Alan Moore run for amazing art and storytelling 💚

I saw that Sonny Chiba Golgo 13 movie about 20 years ago, the only thing I remember is in the English dub, the little girl was very clearly played by an adult trying to do a high pitched voice. Aliens was actually in its third week when Howard the Duck came out, but it was still the number one movie, with Friday the 13th VI in second place and Howard in third.

I love the 4K restoration swamp thing got. I have the uncut mgm dvd that’s fullscreen. It’s a very interesting film that was surprisingly well received by critics during its release. I find it mostly a fun time but the costume and action is lacking once he is swamp thing. The ending is the best part; just a random medival Arthurian swamp epic sword battle. Howard the duck is the craziest what if episode ive ever seen. I can’t believe to this day it was made. Just nonsense on screen for the whole time. Worth it every time!

I've really enjoyed this series. You two and your editors, and anybody else who works on the program should be proud. I hope it sticks around, always love hearing people laugh at mediocre to bad movies while at work.

Speaking of him, I remember watching an old movie like 10-12 years ago called Wes Craven's Chiller. Don't remember much of it, besides it had a cryogenics theme and it was as schlock as it gets.

fun video. It's actualy not a corkscrew shaped. It's actually this pustule growth with rebar along it..... IT'S FAR MORE DISTURBING of an image, it's because the Female Duck's womb is a maze, and in order to fertilize it has to slither along.... yeah, it's not an easy thing to design even as a prophylactic. Hence why the whole "Breeders of the Lost Stork" hits on another level. On a side note, the song probably is George Clinton of the Parliment Funkadelic, BUT! There's also George S Clinton who didn't change his name till late 2000s and he did A LOT OF MOVIE MUSIC! So much that it got confusing when in the 90s you did go "hey wait?"

Haha! It's always a great start for the weekend when Trash Movie Bonanza's on. If my faulty borderline senior memory recalls, the late Tanya Robert's "Sheena" film also had some quick nude scenes even though it too had a PG rating. And LOL! Howard the Duck's fight with the Dark Overlord is Kaneda versus Tetsuo.

I was living in a group home at the time Howard came out and had to bring another kid, who was not the brightest bulb, to see it with me. It was such a slog and was so clearly a total failure - but my house mate? Loved it. During the ending song and dance, this kid literally stood up and started clapping to the beat, laughing his fool head off. I died from embarrassment. RIP SWAMP THING - I loved it. "Does it hurt?" "Only... When I... Laugh" 😂

I love Swamp Thing. Its sadly uneven, but Craven’s heart shines through. Howard is such a weird yet uninteresting movie. 15 year old me was sadly disappointed.

as always, great episode guys! in preparation, rewatched howard the duck for the first time since I saw it on telly as a kid. so many times, over the years, heard how weird and shitty it is, but I've grown to enjoy weird stuff and I thought it was like Ang Lee's hulk, which I love, or speed racer movie and normies just don't get it. so I fully expected to have a blast with it... I was never so wrong, fucking hell it SUCKED! one of the worst films I saw in my life, probably. I don't even like to pause movies when I'm watching them to make the experience as close as possible to the cinemas, but this one I stopped countless times to consider just skipping it altogether. it's not even all the weird bestiality stuff or general hornyness of this PG duck movie, that was actually funny, imagining all the execs watching this and being like "Yeah, don't see anything wrong with this", it's just the most aimless plot and terrible writing. I don't think there is one moment in the film that they didn't try to punch up with some shitty, annoying one-liner. actually, it's easy to see how this is the first marvel movie, ratio of one-liners to MCU-quips must be one to one. cool effects though

Think; the year swamp thing was attempted, it’s in line with the first creepshow. So those cheesy dripping transitions you speak of are Craven homaging that revelation of a film.

chris! i assume you dont know but you shouldnt reccomend Corridor anymore, theyre very supportinve of genAI and were one of the first to start really pushing it and saying its "better for art" and "democratizes it" and when criticized, they doubled and tripled down. havent kept up since then, but im just hoping they fail smth like that

I thought it was dumb, but fun. Never tried to be anything more than a campy “let’s watch monsters wrestle” kind of action-horror movie. I actually loved the Leech-Man, and thought it would really work as a horror reimagining of the Superman villain Parasite.
