That young boy in the movie they are watching Yaddon ki Barat (Union of memories) is Amir Khan, He was 7 years old and his first appearance in bollywood. Yaadon ki barat was directed by Nasir Hossain that's Amir Khan's uncle.

Its a great movie , specially as Indians we connect to it greatly, but i have seen other people from different countries react to it as well but were not able to connect with the story ,but great to see both of you getting what the story is trying to tell,nice reaction 👏.love Miguel

The symbolism of drinking mineral water from the bottle everytime is important. He accepts glass of water from Kaveri Amma but didn't drink it. It shows how Mohan still feels alienated in his own motherland. It shows he still hasn't come out of his comfort zone. He calls them "you Indians". He keeps complaining about the Government, the people and talks about change but he himself had no contribution in it. It's only later in the movie that he realises his roots and how wrong he was and mends it. His visit to Haridas' house opens his eyes. He drinks water from the earthen glass. Loved revisiting the movie with you guys and the music by A. R. Rehman adds a cherry on top of it.❤️

30:02 That cup is made up of clay which usually is use and throw cups. Mostly in north side, and in trains those are used for tea, people simply drink it and throw it out of the window in open field or in train tracks. Those aren't as harmful as paper or plastic cups to the environment.

Such under rated and unappreciated movie.such beautiful movie it was. We see srk the actor,not just the star that he is. I think only ur channel justified the actual brilliance of this movie , it was a lost cause n wasted in all other channel who reacted to this movie.

30:02 That's an earthen cup made up of soil aka "Kulhad". It's only used once and is eco friendly. That child would h've been forced to make that cup before deciding to serve water in it. (Water- a great leveller)

The movie was ahead of it's time, it should have been a great success but people at that time didn't realise that

Despite being an SRK fan I never watched Swades because it wasn't a big hit here and also I was about 9 when it released. Thanks to you guys I have watched 60% of it and I'm floored. I don't even know how its going to end but its safe to say this movie was ahead of its time. Had it released now, social media would've blown it up. The concept, my king SRK's acting (and the rest of the cast too) plus AR Rehman's music.. as simple as it gets but still profound. Many thanks to the people who suggested this one and you and uncle Miguel for watching it for us!

In modern India if anyone, even parents try to stop any child for schooling, Police will come and arrest the parents from their home, according to the Indian education law 'Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan'. So don't confuse these issues shown in this movie with today's India. BTW the movie is good.

I don't think so. Right to Education is a fundamental right, which means anyone between the age of 6-14 can avail of education free of cost. But it doesn't impose any punishment or criminal liability on parents for not sending their children to school. Plus, children in India can start working from the age of 14 (but not in hazardous conditions). So do your, logical deductions and no police will come and arrest the parents from home 🙄. It was suggested by gov panel to include punishment for parents who do not send their kids to school, but this has not been acted upon yet.

After having done all that I realise that, it doesn't seem like a good idea forcing people to 'education' about how to navigate and serve the modern 'systems' and economic engine which is terribly destructive for the whole world - humans, animals, plants, land, water, air, water, everything that has made the planet hostile, unsustainable, and near alarming levels of "extinction"! For what "Go to the city, and sell this at a higher price"???
