SW-102 by Surecom - Digital VHF/UHF SWR & Power Meter Review & Operation

Ғылым және технология

In this video, I will share some details about the SW-102 by SureCom.
I looked for a small, digital SWR/Power meter for my VHF/UHF operation. Small, light, easy to read, cover 144/220/430 and fit a portable use for my Arrow antenna when I'm working Satellites.

    Hi John, First, i'm sorry for the late reply as I just now saw you comment. From some reason I didn't see it before. As for your question, that menu feature is to calibrate the meter, if needed. To calibrate, you will need another meter that you trust. That menu option is from -99 to + 99, while each unit equal to 0.1 Khz. I hope it helps, 73.

  • @reHamRadio

    @reHamRadio

    Thanks for your feedback. Testing the antenna without the ground plate should be fine as well, especially if the test is with low power. The results that you will be should be similar to the natural condition where the antenna is connected to the handheld anyway. I believe that they added that piece of metal to isolate the meter itself from RF while testing, especially with high power. I know that there are few models out there, with and without that ground plate, but even if you don't have it, you should be good. 73.

    Hi and thanks for your feedback. Yes, this device is working on batteries (charge by USB). It must be power on to show the details. But, you can still use it when it's off. You don't need to disconnect it from your rig and antenna even if it's not in use.

    It's a great video, but does one use the ground plane only for the stock antenna or with _all_ HT antennas? The ground plane plate no longer is included as Surecom said it would add about ten more dollars to the cost. My 102 had so many bad readings that I'm sending it back. Can you imagine a Nagoya NA-771 SWR reading of 3.58?? On an analog meter the Nagoyas registered well under 1.5. Without the plate, the readings were outrageous. To not include the plate was a horrible decision. Fortunately, TwoWayRadio still has versions with the plate included. So I ordered from them for $54 and I'm returning the one I got from Amazon.

  • @reHamRadio

    @reHamRadio

    When comparing two meters, the tests should be equal. Then, sometimes, a meter needs calibration. Before any decision which meter make more sense, I would check the meters with another antenna, doesn't matter which type. It's just to get a reference that the reads are consistent. I hope it helps.
