@@xXSpongeBroBrownPantzXx When it was released. When he was fired from Nickelodeon, Spumco let go, "Sven Hoek" still needed music and sound effects. So they did it. Kricfalusi called the soundtrack "crummy", and the sound effects, "too loud".

@@georgeliquor1236 Actually, I don't think he really liked much of the episode's aspects. He attacked the background painters worked full of "candy cane colors", and chewed out Bob Jaques for how "Disney" the animation looked.

Probably the best episode outta them all IMHO. Every drawing is so damn good and the frames are so slickly animated.

@@systemshocker2875 No no. Spumco did the poses and artwork. The actual animation was done by Carbunkle Cartoons, an animation studio in Vancouver. Carbunkle was headed by Bob Jaques and Kelly Armstrong, the former an old college pal of John Kricfalusi.

Take a look at this johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2009/04/big-house-blues-spumco-2-why-ren-no.html John Kricfalusi is famous for being a perfectionist, to the point of sadism and hatred among those who worked for him. He'd make his artists draw a layout so many times, until he'd draw it himself. So when he realized, that his own work was imperfect, he realized he had to fix Ren;s design so he could remain perfect.

I have to admit, when I first saw this episode, it threw me that Ren actually went to WORK! TO WORK!

Huh, actually, now the pencil tests featured only the voices, it'll be perfect to create only the new original music, replacing the soundtrack that has been later used in SpongeBob. Plus, the pencil drawn animation is perfectly well done!

Traditional hand drawn animation is beautiful. I love that art style it's too bad everything nowadays is all digital. Even movies are so obsessed with cgi animation that traditional animation is ignored. CGI looks like ass. (Cough cough) live action Alvin and the Chipmunks, Garfield, the first ice age movie (though it is a good movie), Jimmy neutron, norm of the north, hoodwinked, foodfight, chicken little and so much more I can't think of.

They used layers when drawing. And some parts go over others. If you knew more about the process of cel animation, you'd understand better.
