Its been over a year since i bought it and it still makes me smile every time i get in :). I love this car!

My eldest dauhghter will be collecting a Suzuki Swift 1.5 GLX next week. It's described by the garage as orange but apparently is registered as sunlight copper, with striping from the factory. This to me is a colour you will love or hate, no middle ground like boring silver or grey etc. I sat in the passenger seat during her test drive and I was truly amazed. To me the Swift, at least in my view has been overlooked. I have a small family hatchback and currently own a Ford Fiesta 1.4 In Fashionista metallic (kind of a gold colour) and drive a VW Polo Match 1.4 in dark grey metallic (Pewter grey or similar), and these are the first cars that spring to mind in the sector. So, I saw the Swift advertised and instantly felt guilty as being 56 years of age, my immediate thought was how this car is a 'young persons' car, it has to be with that bright paint and those stripes, but shame on me I really really love the look of it! Ok, so the picture can decieve the eye and cant be that pretty, surely. But, when we turned up at the garage again I hung my head as I thought damn its a gorgeous looking car and I want one - help! Salesman opened the doors and I thought is this car really over 5 years old because it looks so clean like a car 12 months old. I was even more shocked when the Saleman said that it had only just arrived and had not been cleaned outside or inside. Its a credit to the 2 previous owners. When I got in the car I was shocked at the quality feel (remember I drive a Polo and swear by the quality of the interior) and the seat comfort, also I totally agree with the reviewer it feelsso much bigger inside. Another plus factor is that my daughter is only about 4 feet 10 inches and her immediate comment was how of all the cars shed sat in the Swift was the best by far for comfortable position and ability to look over the bonnet. So, yes Im knocked out by the upmarket feel, and the ride was incredibly comfortable. The Swift has low mileage, full service history, and looks like its been garaged as the paintwork is excellent. After a negotiation where I kept all these plus factors to myself and endeavoured to appear none too excited I made an offer to the seller, he said a higher figure, I said we would think on to which he replied he would talk to his Manager and call me the next day. This he did and knocked a further £200 of the car making a near £500 saving, so my daughter is delighted. This Swift has lady owner written all over it from the copper paintwork, to the pink rear lens to the pink wheel dust caps, however, each to their own and apparently both previous owners are male! In summary, speak as you find but for doubters or those wearing blinkers (like me), thinking Suzuki oh yes they make fabulous motorcycles and that tiny pick up thingy, then think again because this car deserves your test drive and in a world where all cars look so similar or indeed are the same under the body then the Swift is unique for looks and will put a smile on your face.

I know this model is now 3 years old, however, in my eyes it is still a great winner. Having gone from a BMW 323 SE owner for a while, I can honestly say I don't miss it one bit. My model is slightly different from the one here reviewed, it's the 1.2 petrol SZ4. I particularly wanted this model as the tax is (currently) only £30 py, and get 50+ mpg. This is mainly to and from work 8 miles away with no traffic lights or traffic etc. It's not as good mpg as some of the other engines but it does produce 100bhp so for this for me was a fine compromise.The SZ4 model has button start, keyless entry and start, auto lights, climate control, cruise control and other bits that make it fun and interesting. I've mentioned this so that people who've come here for a review, also have some info on the other models available.

The car used is a press car supplied by Suzuki GB to DriveStart for review which we had on a one week loan just like all of our other test cars.I assume if the public were to test drive the cars it would be a similar arrangement to what you have.

very good review mate, makes me wonder if I shud of test drove a diesel, but it's too late now... I'm handing over the cash for the basic petrol model in about 2 hours. These cars are way more fun to drive than almost every other hatchback I tested, had to get one.

Yes, big fan of the Swift especially if you 'enjoy' driving. Also the new Corsa is very good, we will have the video coming soon. What sort of 4x4 you looking for? An SUV style thing or just a car with four-wheel drive?
