On my 98 Sidekick Sport I wish the the routing was as easy as your Samurai, . Amazing that you can not find any correct cable routing for the speedo cable in factory service manuals or on the Suzuki forum . It appears that if the factory routing is followed then all is well but if the original owner replaced the cable without seeing exactly how it goes in then anyone duplicating his work arrives with the same problem. Just had the dash removed to fix leaking heater core . FSM says 5 hours and it took my mechanic 11 hours. Speedometer was working fine when I took it in and now bounces up to 50 km before getting back to normal.

Well back in 86 things were a lot simpler and easier to work on, i love the samurai for that exact reason, so easy to work on! It cant be that hard to route a speedo cable, dont put any sharp bends in it, and when it was out it should have been cleaned and lubed. Typically after market parts are not as good as oem. Thanks for this video. I wondered about the difficulty of putting the white faces on. Does the center section of the steering wheel (horn button) just get pried off easily. Prying on plastic always makes me nervous ;)

Hey thanks for watching the video and subscribing to them. The horn cover just pops off, i just grabbed it with my hand and pulled, if you watch the short blooper reel at the end it shows me removing the cover. Just make sure to keep everything clean, your hands also, when doing the white face guages. Dont spray the guage overlays "before" you peel them off their backing, it makes them tougher to remove. But as soon as you get them to lift off the backing you can spray the soapy water mixture in there. Spray your hands also.

Nice video!, I have a question, mine doesn't have the RPM and I want to add some meter for this, do you know how I could connect that?

Well you might be able to find a guage cluster with a tachometer and just install it. Or get an aftermarket one, install it and follow the directions to wire it up. Thats an old video already, check out some of my newer videos! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I would suspect a problem with your ignition switch. Some people have taken them apart and cleaned. I have never taken one apart..sorry cant help much further.

My steering column is way too tight to bend it down out of the way like that to clear the hazard switch.

Did you loosen the bolts on the clamp that holds the steering column up? That would help maybe

@@FabbinAdventures I tried... I got one loose. The other, man I used an impact screwdriver, liquid wrench and all that and could NOT break that thing loose. I'd like to know what engineering genius decided to use a giant screw-head style fastener WITH LOCTITE instead of an actual hex head bolt.

Yeah i hear ya! Those door hinge bolts can be a real bitch to get out also. There is a tool i made, which you can buy, i think its called shake and break that worked. Its an air impact chisel type tool, and you put in a big impact phillips tip in there and rattle that stupid bolt out!
