Does the kickstart not move at all? The current problem on mine is the "power valve" in the video gear is catching on the water pump drive shaft gear. Once the case goes on it is supposed to compress the gears and align them so they all turn smoothly, but mine isnt lining up causing the kickstart to bind and not be able to turn.

Have you ever had issues/problems shifting into a gear(gear shifter won’t budge) after a rebuild?? Doing my nephews bike and I was shifting through gears just fine as he does in this video using a racket, but after I installed the “paw” ratchet shifter and tightened down the “retainer” and the two Philips screws for the retainer I also attached the rest of the gear shifter that connects through the cases and bolts to the foot shifter(that was also very very snug and wouldn’t go on unless I tapped it lightly with a small hammer) and it’s very hard to move at all with lots of force feels like it’s about to bend something… the only thing I could possibly think it could be is the paw ratchet gear(star piece he calls it) that has an alignment”notch” and pin for the shift drum isn’t aligned properly and is sitting on top causing tension between the retainer and the star piece. I would have pulled it off quickly to see if that’s the cause but I stripped the dang Philips screw as I loaded it with red Loctite and didn’t wanna strip the other one so it’s tomorrows problem now 😅

@@FourwheelerDoctor I didn’t even bother comparing mate but I believe it was either my shift forks being to thin or a washer wrong side of the case as I’ve just watched your assembly video for the 100x time again lol and just noticed I’ve put it the wrong way round as that’s how it came apart but all gears seem to work well with the other box so fingers crossed I’ve just noticed I’m missing the nut for the crank (reverse thread and I’m also missing what seems like all of my pv / pv governor ) so gonna order them up and pull the cases put and that washer right before going any further lol)

@@Tizzypj just in my past experience I haven't seen many bent shift forks. Normally it's a toothbroken off of one of the gears. That will make them bind when you try to rotate. Either way you pretty much going to have to split the case to get to it. Together

Man, the way you building an engine is not good. Splitting the cases with screwdrivers, not cleaning everything. Buy an casesplitter, or make super easy a one from a piece of iron, look on youtube how to make one, but never split cases with screwdrivers, because you probably damaged them and than its would leak. For installing an crank, put it a couple of hours in the freezer, heat the bearing a little bit and it will slide in. Dont press it in because than you squeeze it together and it is not in balance. A few tips.

  • @FourwheelerDoctor

I agree this is the first and last 2-stroke bottom end I'll ever build. I mostly do ATV motors and they're not pressed together like this. You can pry them apart with a screwdriver at the pry points cast in the case and they pops right apart. They're nowhere near as tight on the crankshaft.

This guy has no business putting videos on line for people to watch this should be a video of how not to put a motor together you never press a crankshaft with a press it will tweak it out of true there is a special tool that draws the crank in I know tusk has one. DO NOT Do it the way this guy does it you will ruin your motor.you never pry your cases apart with a screwdriver either there are a lot of videos the right way check out Mike Sabo he has great videos the right way

This is the first and last 2-stroke bottom I will ever build. But as you can see at the end of the video to engine did run with no leaks and is still running after 9 months now. So either I'm lucky or good but it worked the way I did it. I agree it's not the 100% correct way to do it but it worked for me.
