Suzuki LT500R Quadracer “Quadzilla” 9 Year Restoration - Maiden Voyage and Shake Down.

Our first ride on the Quadzilla since the restoration. In fact, it’s the first time we’ve ever ridden it since we bought it 10 years ago!
So far so good. Only a loose seat to write home about. Lost the seat rubbers and took a while to find them. Everything else stayed put and the bike ran great. Could probably do with a steering damper.
Still breaking up a bit in the higher revs so maybe need to lean the main jet a touch. Currently running a safe 460.
The best weather of the year and an empty track; perfect conditions for a test ride!

Sounds good. We were lucky enough to get brand new plastics while they were still being made 2 years ago. The hood we got from a guy in Canada NOS. Your best bet is the groups on Facebook. A full set of new plastics from someone on there is going to be about $6000 last time I looked (and they sell). Used plastics are still very expensive, even poor condition ones. Maier still make aftermarket plastics but they don't look the same. I would run the Maiers if I was riding the quad seriously. Our quad is kind of too nice to ride now, we couldn't afford to repair and replace things if we broke them, so it's more of a show bike. If we ride it properly, the original plastics will probably get swapped for some new Maiers.

I can’t believe somebody would buy a set of plastics for $6000. That’s crazy to me so they were making them just a few years ago there has to be quite a few sets out there then you would think. I’m gonna have to call Japan the factory lol.

In this video, we are running very rich as it was after just after the break-in period. It has a new TM38 carb bored out to 41.5mm. 460 main and 40 pilot with the air box lid on. My next video is from our dyno/jetting day so stay tuned. Clean and service the stock carb and put that back on. Start with 380-420 main and 27.5 - 30 pilot. Stock needle 3rd clip. That will run and you can fine-tune it from there. Where are you based?

@@-Swervo That's your main jet. I would ditch the PWK and use your stock carb if possible as the bike will run better with it and there is more information out there for the TM38. That being said, try quadracerhq as I know a few people on there are running the PWK. Also, Michael Sabo just restored an LT500R and he's using a PWK. He has a video where they are playing with the jetting. It's a Chinese copy carb put probably close enough. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5eDz6aEebWyac4.html&ab_channel=MichaelSabo
