The low speed and part throttle is the hardest stuff to map, that's where you spend most of your time. That peak power run means pretty much bog all in the real world. The fuelling and ignition maps and the options for deleting inputs like the O2 look very similar to Hondata that I've dabbled with on Honda cars.

I noticed Greg say it's running a bit hot at 80 degrees, is that hot though especially in the conditions? My 9r was running at 87 degrees through winter and summer, it seemed to love being at that temp, but I managed to bring that down a fair bit. First thing I done was use Motul 7100 fully synthetic oil, straight away the temps came down 3-5 degrees, I then recently removed the KLEEN air system (PAIRS system), and connected the crankcase breather to the KLEEN air system with the vacuum pump removed, and added a small Ramair filter, and blocked off the holes in the airbox (I have a video showing how I done it if interested). As the hot exhaust gases that pass through the piston rings no longer go back into the engine, the temps are down even more, I saw them go down to 78 or 79 degrees at one point, plus it is now using the extra and cleaner air to produce more power. I did shim my carbs too, but obvs you can't do that part, but definitely recommend the other mods to any bike, no need to buy block off plates for the reed valves. Next I'm changing the coolant to Motul's coolant to see if that makes a change, as I'm sure the previous owners probably just used a generic brand not formulated for bikes specifically, we'll see.

I used to work at cosworth in the dyno. Every day we would measure barometric pressure and vapour pressure (using a whirling barometer) and work out a correction factor. On a perfect day the correction factor would be zero, on a good day the power would be corrected down, on a bad atmospheric day the power would be corrected up. Weather makes a fair bit of difference.

Always intrigues me with altering the mapping and changing the fuelling. Does this mean when the map is altered to make it smoother, more responsive etc and the bike comes round to an MOT and is checked for emissions it'll fail as the original map was installed to comply with emission regs

All new bikes are built to meet very strict emission control. This is tested under load (unlike mot) Unfortunately these tight controls mean throttle response suffers. The bike won't fail an MOT emissions test as that's very basic and only done on idle

Motorcycles are not tested for emissions on an MOT.
