Very helpful video. I changed my oil and filter today following this and it was pretty straightforward. I did manage to spill about 2 litres of old oil all over the road outside my house, as I forgot to remove the cap that allows air into my oil storage container, so it very quickly started pouring everywhere. Thankfully I had some sand that I was able to throw down on it when I was done.

Cotti cheers. Well that's the point isn't it? It is easy and leaving it till you can afford a dealer to do it just damages your engine.

Thanks for that Mark 👍. Take your time and be careful with the oil drain bolt - it’s common for people to tighten it instead of loosening it and that can cause issues. Good luck. Skäl. David

Good one mate. One of the basics of life !! I'm about to show my 17 year old daughter and her friend how to change the oil on their first cars. Maybe I'll do a video on it for laughs, although they will both probably tell me to, "bugger off with the camera." Ha ha ha !!

When I bought my B12 from a dealership I tried to change the oil and couldn't get the sump plug off - so I took it to my mates garage and they had to use an airgun to release it! Overtightened or what!

Hi David, great tutorial, the last plug, oil filter, air filter and oil change I did I really struggled to remove the oil filter as the previous owner had over tightened it. It tore like a tin can trying to get it off and I was very lucky to get it off. I also replaced it with the high flow filter, they also make them with a hex head on it so it can be easily removed in the future. All of the plugs oil filter k&n air filter came from Weemoto along with a new magnetic sump nut. I'm currently on motul oil at the moment, what do you prefer to use?

Thanks for that, much appreciated 👍. Filters can make your life a misery, especially when they are hard to get to. You can even rip off the hex head if over tightened. I’ve been using Rock oil for a while but Motul is one of the better ones. Magnetic sump plugs are great. There is an American oil I’d like to use but no UK stockists yet! Skäl. David

I used a genuine Suzuki oil filter for my 2006 GSF 650 a couple of weeks ago, and the instructions said to tighten it 2 full turns after the seal had made initial contact.

My videos are based on the Suzuki 2006 GSF 650 service manual. The risk with these is always over tightening.

@@MotoMirius That’s fair enough, but the Haynes manual for these bikes also says 2 full turns, which I must say surprised me. It’s tighter than any other oil filter I’ve ever changed.

Hi. Do you know what car oil filter will be compatible? Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki can be compatible with Hyundai, Kia, Toyota car oil filter. I think Suzuki also has the same.

honestly if it so stuck and youve got a new one, get a long flat head and just hammer into the oil fitler and try it upwards do it all the time, so much better and don't have to pay for that shitty tool
