A surgeon I worked with a looonng time ago taught me to do a running vertical mattress suture to close a groin incision on aorto-femoral bypass surgery.

can your incision grow over the stitches after there was some swelling the first 3 days after the surgery? what will the Dr have to do if that happens to remove the sutures?
Looks like it makes a difference when removing the suture which end of the knot you cut.
My Doc went with only one knot for every stitch They were barely "knotted" more like professionally tangled lol But the scar is almost gone
where can you purchase those suturing practice pads? med student applying surgery this year :)

It's totally possible to do at home, just make sure to keep everything sterile.
