In this video, Matt Barth, Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education at the Bourns College of Engineering, discusses the advances in sustainable transportation research that the UCR Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT) is driving forth. CE-CERT has developed training programs focusing on major areas of sustainable transportation including shared mobility, vehicle electrification, and connected and automated vehicles. CE-CERT, in partnership with UCR University Extension and UCR’s Office of Technology Partnerships (OTP) combined elements of sustainable transportation, inventorship, and entrepreneurship into one certificate program. This Sustainable Transportation Certificate Program was taken by a cohort of students from a partner university in Querétaro, Mexico. The students had hands-on experience in CE-CERT’s state-of-the-art laboratories and experience with its cutting-edge technology. Students in the program discussed their experiences in Riverside, highlighting the beautiful campus, downtown, the classes, and their encouraging instructors. The certificate will ultimately help students to find good jobs, get paid more, and bring their newfound knowledge to their communities so that they can further advance sustainable transportation.
