The hair is called a Beehive and Priscilla Elvis wore her hair like that in the 60's. She was honoring Priscilla and Elvis with Elvis Red Guitar. Elvis was a Great entertainer in his time but he had one problem, He never wrote a song on his own. He sang Others songs.

The Executive producer of this video is Mery Zamani, Angelina’s grandma, Angelina’s greatest creative influence. The two youngest girls are Angelina’s uncle Michael’s children Michael is Angelina’s manager. The middle school aged girl in white is Angelina’s younger sister, Juliette. Angelina, (the barefoot princes) paid homage to the King. Her wardrobe, her hairstyle, the guitar, pianist, Rob Christie’s coveralls, etc. are what Elvis wore and played in his 1968 Come Back Special. Angelina is the real deal. She is easily the most accomplished child vocalist of all time. As talented as Angelina is, she is an even better person, humble and filled with empathy. Please take the time to read the biography I compiled for, IMO, the greatest singer storyteller and the most emotional vocalist of my 74 years. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZread. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZread went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a KZread video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT that would give Simon any control over her career. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on KZread. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Tomorrow, January 10th is her 17th birthday. Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. Thank you for Discovering Angelina. She will be your most significant find for 2023. The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday’ and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The pianist Rob Christie (music studio director of Republic Records distribution of UMG, two-time Grammy winner) changed the musical arrangement and Angelina changed the vocal arrangement, but she didn't change the lyrics. Angelina changes the lyrical structure starting with the bridge and gives the song a different meaning than Felton Jarvis and Mark James , Angelina version absolutely fits the lyric better. Once again, many people don't hear and understand the song until Angelina tells the story. 💯 *AJ* 💯👣 The producer Felton Jarvis from Elvis Presley cleverly covered this *Mark James song from 1968 in 1969* , Elvis' last #1 hit in the US and #7 of his most successful songs. Felton Jarvis took the original country arrangement completely from Mark James and pushed the song with more speed and additional instruments (wind instruments, violin etc.) and a spectacular backing choir (in the studio version).

Today is Angelina Jordan’s 17th birthday! She was born and raised in Norway but has been living in Los Angeles for about 5-6 years. She 23:08 has been singing since she was 18 months old. But her breakthrough song was on Norway’s got talent at 7 years old. Check out her version of Gloomy Sunday and compare it to Billie Holiday. Angelina has also covered a few Willie Nelson songs.

You mentioned Shirley Bassey, so you may be interested to know that there's a video of Angelina performing Diamonds Are Forever live on stage back in Norway when she was 11 or 12. She is also on record as loving Goldfinger.

Funny stuff. I appreciate your humor. I’m a lot older than you young-in’s(73). I watched Elvis first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show about 1956? I was earring my lunch in my 66 Corvette when they came over the radio that Elvis had died. This song was recorded by him in 1969 and was his last #1 hit. Angelina is Norwegian and speaks at least 4 languages. She won Norways Got Talent in 2014 age 8, and turned 17 this week 1/10/23. She does all her own arraigning and also has several original songs. Republic records brought her on board age 14 and after she graduates HS this spring her first album with them will be released. She has around 200 videos to check out so just pick any song you like and hold on to your socks! Thanks from Alaska

As I once commented on another reaction channel with man and wife ("bride") that she is on track, but he is a bit sidetracked... Anyway, you came a bit late into the vocal stream. I have been watching and listening to this young lady for four years now, and I was late when I started. I will be 80 years old next Groundhog's Day, and I have never heard a singer, male or female, who could bring me to tears singing old (and new original) songs the way she does. She began singing at the age of 1 1/2 and the rest is history. She will be 17 years old tomorrow, January 10th. She can sing in many genres with the same effect: she uncovers the emotional content of the lyrics and she almost always makes the song her own. Enjoy her while you can, I wish I could live long enough to experience her rise to super stardom. She is an Angel and so are her fans...each and every one!

Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice was 17 on Jan. 10, 23 and is now 6'1" tall and could be a super model, but I hope the major portion of her career will be dedicated to her music and taking the world to a better place. I don't think she even realizes this power she holds over us and the need to hear that signature voice to fill that empty void within all of us. Angelina Jordan is in fact the "Benchmark" for all other vocalist to try as they might to achieve.

Congratulations guys you just discovered THE best Vocal Artist on the planet today and in my humble opinion of ANY day. I saw her live in Sandefjord Norway last 10th July and she was incredible guys! Angelina began singing at 18 months old. At 2, she began teaching herself how to sing, focusing primarily on the jazz masters of decades gone by. Well you stumbled over a cover artist that sing those good well known classics in a different way, no copy, but paying homage to the original artist. She is from Norway and won NGT (Norway Got Talent) in 2014. I saw it live and voted for her win and she was only turned 8. She got 46% of all given votes in the final. Reason she sing barefoot is she gave a poor girl her shoes since the poor girl didnt have any. They promised to remember each other and the poor girl promised to pray for Angelina. Angelina did this at 6 years of age. After that all performances are barefooted to remind people of the less fortunate ones in the world. She will surprise you in a good way on every cover (she got 140+) and she turned 17 yesterday. I hope you know "I Put A Spell On You" by Screaming Jay Hawkins (done by Hocus Pocus, Nina Simone etc.) and do the black/white version. She got some good originals as well. The Roland 808 was a drum machine in the late 80’s that was widely used in rap music because of the distinctive kick drum sound I owned one but I didn’t use it much as it didn’t fit the style I was going for at the time

Welcome to AJ's world. I am sure you will be fully informed by other AJ fans who are prepared to provide you with her background, so I will not go into that. Elvis first burst on the scene when I was 6 years younger than AJ is now. While I have a great love for most music, I have never been a fan of anyone until 3 years ago when, quite by accident, I stumbled on AJ, at age 13, singing Bohemian Rhapsody at AGT the Champions. That initial experience made me curious and I explored her other videos going back to the age of 6..... and even earlier. Hours went by like they were minutes and I became totally hooked by her talent, stage charm, confidence and innate beauty. I have listened to her at least daily since then, and even travelled to Norway from the USA last July to attend one of her first concerts since the onset of the pandemic. It was stunning to listen and observe in person. I hope you continue to react to her life's work.

I've given you the links for Angelina's performances for Norway's Got Talent 2014 (more backstory in the following comment). Of the 4 NGT performances, only NGT 1 and the final, NGT 4, have English subtitles or closed captions. I recommend playing all of NGT 1, where she sang Billie Holiday's arrangement of "Gloomy Sunday." For NGT 4, "Summertime," Angelina performed in the style of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. I love this version of Suspicious Minds. I'm not a huge Elvis fan (bit before my time) but remember the fine young cannibals version - but Angelina's opening verse just hits you in the chest. She totally switches the feel of the song & I love it. Angelina has over 150 covers & some originals- she lives in LA & is signed with Republic Records. She is a jazz prodigy, studying & singing jazz at the age of 1 1/2 yrs. old. She won Norways Got Talent at the age of 7 when she sang 4 jazz songs. 🌀

You guys are very different but enjoyable. I left you a playlist for Angelina in a separate comment but I'd like to recommend a couple of other covers for you. 1.Eva Cassidy... Tragically she passed away in 1996 at the age of only 33 from cancer, but has a legendary voice. Her version of Over the Rainbow is considered one of the best ever recorded. 2. Foxes and Fossils... A phenomenal cover band that does a lot of the older music. Their Crosby stills Nash & Young versions of Suite Judy Blue Eyes and Carry On will be the best covers you've ever heard of these. Harmonies on steroids! Peace.

I do wish you done the live version of Elvis singing this just because his energy and dancing is so cool and because her version is so slowed down and perfect for her. Also, I think Elvis is just always better performing for an audience. He thrived on that energy.

Love the format. Maybe more violence, she should probably hit you more often. But that was great. Angelina is so phenomenal, it's stupid really. Take your pick, out of over a hundred. I like when people prefer songs they know, then you know they are feeling that choice that day and it works out better content wise. But for sure, there are also some you just can't miss out on.

Your volume seemed fine to me, today. I enjoyed your reaction very much. Anjelina's hair was a tribute to Priscilla Presley, and to Amy Winehouse. She seems to love it that way, because she wore a beehive in her concerts in Norway in 2022.

In fact, you'll probably get a version of that story in the comments under almost every AJ reaction you do. Someday you might even hear the story from her own mouth - there are a few such videos out there. And the most interesting of them will be recommended to you, eventually…🙂

So when you read fan statements you will think they are exagerating until uou get into her catalogue of nearly 200 songs origionals and covers.. She has been rearranging covers since a tiny child. Her I PUT A SPELL ON YOU age 9 has had people talking reincarnation. She is a musical prodigy and she sings every genre adapting her tone the texture of her voice often jazzing it up.
